Are You Happy with Your Employee Benefits? Companies are so exciting to finally take the step and provide benefits to their employees like dental care, prescription drugs and more, only to be disappointed because the plan that was put together for them didn't meet the needs or their employees. One of the reasons why a company that currently has a benefit plan with another brokerage calls me is because the benefits they are providing doesn't meet the needs of their employees. I just received a call from a business where the dental allowance for each employee's family is $500 for the year. Their employees are paying more out of their pocket than what the plan covers. This is just one of the issues. After looking at the plan, I have to say it's one of the worst plans I've seen. How Can This Happen? It could be because the broker or agent they are dealing with wanted to provide low cost premiums to ensure that they get the business. Also, in this case, the business owner dealt directly with the insurance provider and not through a broker, they only received one quote. Had they dealt with a broker, like us for example, we would have invited about 6 insurance providers to quote. And we would have personalized the plan to fit the needs of their employees. Many business Owners that decide to provide benefits to their employees just don't know. What they learn is only as good as the person they are dealing with. This business owner also told me that they only heard from their agent when it came time to renew. How about staying in touch with their client and advising them how how to mitigate any possible rate increases?
