it will be a real ‘Amrit Kaal’ only when an Indian built jetliner, powered by Indian jet engines, ferries people and products from one continent to another; or, when an Indian-owned-Indian-built LNG tanker vessel, powered by Indian designed turbines, hauls gas from an Indian co-owned natural gas project in Mozambique or Tanzania to an LNG terminal in India. And the time for a concerted push in that direction is these coming five years.

📍#LNGNews 📍 ✅ KEYS Bunkering West Japan Corporation #KEYS has taken delivery 🎊 of a newbuild LNG bunkering vessel, #KEYS #Azalea. The vessel is said to be Japan’s first 🥇 LNG bunkering ship equipped with dual-fuel engines 🔥. ✅ The LNG bunkering ship will now begin operation in the LNG coastal transportation business 🌏, in addition to LNG bunkering for oceangoing vessels calling at ports in the Kyushu-Setouchi area 📌. ✅ The partners expect that LNG will be a bridge 💧 solution for decarbonization, virtually eliminating sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions and 📉 reducing approximately 80% of nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, as well as 30% of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions 💭. 📌 Source : Offshore Energy #lng #lngindustry #lngshipping #maritime #accidentinvestigation #safety #management

“NYK, Astomos welcome new #LPG #dualfuel LPG/#ammonia carrier” #VESSELS June 28, 2024, - Fatima Bahtić “Japanese #shipping major NYK and compatriot #liquefiedpetroleumgas (LPG) trader and importer Astomos Energy Corporation have held a delivery and naming ceremony for a new LPG dual-fuel LPG/ammonia carrier.” “This vessel is equipped with a #dualfuelengine that can use #heavyoil and LPG as fuel.” “Furthermore, the LPG/ammonia carrier employs a shaft generator that produces electricity by rotating the shaft connecting the main engine to the propeller, enabling the vessel to stop operating the #dieselgenerator during standard navigation and realize full #LPGfueled navigation.” “Compared to conventional #heavyoilfueledvessels , #SOx (#sulfuroxides ) and #CO2 (#carbondioxide ) in the #exhaustgas are reduced by more than 95% and 20%, respectively, when the ship is fueled by LPG, according to NYK.” “In addition to LPG, the vessel will be able to transport ammonia if future demand increases. Ammonia is attracting attention as a means of realizing a #decarbonized #shipping sector.” https://lnkd.in/eEr-yNjV? Source - original post Read all my posts #MariusPreston

GAIL's Strategic Move in LNG Shipping I am pleased to see GAIL (India) continuing to expand its LNG shipping capabilities with this new time charter agreement with Shell, as reported by TradeWinds. It's a positive step towards securing India's energy future through reliable LNG supply chains. However, as we move forward, I believe it’s crucial for GAIL and other Indian energy companies to consider building LNG carriers in India, even if the shipyard is operated by foreign entities such as Korean companies. This would not only foster local industry growth and create jobs, but also align with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by strengthening India's domestic manufacturing capabilities. By leveraging global expertise while boosting local shipbuilding infrastructure, we can enhance India's position in the global LNG market. Let’s aim to make India a key player not just in LNG consumption but in LNG carrier production as well! #LNG #Shipping #India #Energy #Shipbuilding #AtmanirbharBharat #GAIL #LocalManufacturing

Capital Gas Ship Management Corp. (‘Capital Gas’) took successful delivery of the newbuilding LNG carriers "Assos", "Apostolos" and "Aktoras" from Hyundai Heavy Industries, S. Korea. The sister vessels with a cargo capacity of 174,000 m3 are highly efficient, propelled with MAN MEGA engines, and equipped with the latest technologies, including an air lubrication system, shaft generators, and increased filling limits (above 99%). The vessels represent the vanguard of the new generation of LNG carriers, setting an industry benchmark with their exceptionally low environmental impact. They achieve this by employing cutting-edge technologies designed to minimize methane slip and substantially reduce CO2 emissions, making them the most eco-efficient additions to the global fleet. They are three of eighteen LNG vessels delivered to Capital Gas between 2020 and 2027. Delivery festivities were well attended by high-ranking officials from Capital Gas, HHI, and other organizations and companies. #capitalgas #newbuilding #lngc #lngshipping #assos #apostolos #aktoras

Thank you to Paul-louis Holi, producer and host of The Maritime Vision podcast for an enjoyable conversation about the latest developments at Titan and in the clean fuels market. I outlined how the LNG pathway from LNG to liquefied biomethane (LBM/BioLNG) to renewable e-LNG is a viable and practical route to decarbonised ships. We discussed the production and supply of LNG and LBM in-depth, including the existing bunkering infrastructure and what investments are still needed, as well as the impact of the latest environmental regulations such as the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) on the shipping and clean fuels markets. With the EU ETS adding a progressive cost to polluters, when you include these costs of compliance in your evaluation, the commercial rationale for adopting low or zero-emission marine fuels is clearer than ever. Our Director of Renewable Fuels Caspar Gooren recently spoke about the LNG pathway to shipping's decarbonisation on the The Maritime Vision podcast. In this wide-reaching conversation that covered LNG bunkering in detail, Caspar discussed the importance of traceable and transparent clean fuel supply chains, as well as the availability, emissions and cost benefits of LNG and liquefied biomethane (LBM/bio-LNG) over alternatives today. “On the cost side, LNG is an attractive fuel compared to marine gas oil or marine diesel oil…bio is still two to three times more expensive than LNG, so we need to narrow that gap; analysis [shows] that this should be reduced in a couple of years [to be only] up to 30% more expensive than normal LNG due to lowering in costs and the higher cost of regulations [and] of compliance.” Thank you to Paul-louis Holi for the interview and click here to watch it in full: https://lnkd.in/evNHzkYn #ShipsAndShipping #LNG #LBM #Maritime

Keeping an eye on the progress of the LNG tanker Everest Energy which picked up a cargo from the Novatek Arctic-2 project and is traversing the Northern Sea Route eastward ... a test both as to whether a conventional LNG carrier can navigate the route with no icebreaking capabilities, but also its ultimate destination--and who will purchase the energy. Everest Energy managed by Ocean Speedstar Solutions OPC, based out of Mumbai. Another Arctic-2 cargo was loaded last month by Pioneer. reportedly also managed by Ocean Speedstar Solutions OPC, and then transferred to the New Energy at Port Said, Egypt. New Energy is currently in the Atlantic Ocean per AIS data. Reports indicate that New Energy is owned by Gotik Energy Shipping and managed by Plio Energy Cargo, both firms also based out of Mumbai. All of this suggests that even after high-level U.S.-India talks, the Indian conduit for Russian energy and reshipment/resale to European or Asian allies remains in play.
