Producing quality hay starts with planning ahead, and taking timely action. 🌾 As we head into the second half of the 2024 growing season here are a few crop threats to keep an eye on. ➡️ Weeds. Palmer amaranth can easily take over an established field. He Without early intervention, growers may need to apply a burndown midseason. Kochia is another weed to keep an eye on, make sure you get it sprayed when it's still young, otherwise it will be a losing battle. ➡️ Pests. In recent years many producers have moved away from the use of pyrethroids for weevil control. This has resulted in an influx of other pests, such as potato leafhoppers.
