Meet Dane Lines, Undergraduate Engineer at TMT, and currently studying Mechanical Engineering at Edith Cowan University. Dane chose to study engineering at university as he has always been interested in designing and creating things to solve problems, and engineering also provides the opportunity for many great jobs in all different fields of employment. In his role at TMT, Dane is enjoying learning how the design engineers create solutions and implement them with the use of different software, and then seeing the engineers collaborate with the workshop to provide a product of the proposed solution. For anyone considering studying engineering, Dane says, "it's a great degree that invokes thinking from all different parts of the brain, and challenges your ability to problem solve and think three dimensionally. The work may seem daunting, but in the workplace everyone is happy to help you learn and evolve." Learn more about TMT and view current vacancies: www.tmtrov.com.au/careers

The other day my younger sibling asked me what I was learning at university and when I went to answer I was stumped. Metallurgical and Materials Engineering is quite the mouthful for an eight-year-old and I wasn't sure that going down the rabbit hole of defining concepts like polymers, alloys, and crystal structures would be beneficial in the moment. The light bulb moment 💡 came after breaking down the process behind the development of a new invention into eight simple steps, demonstrating how the fields of engineering work together to make it happen, - " Some engineers understand a problem and propose a solution. Some engineers read the proposal and sketch a design. Some engineers model those designs and build a prototype. Some engineers take the prototype and make a machine. Some engineers see the machine and connect a power source. Some engineers apply the power source and code some instructions. Some engineers know the instructions and ensure they execute. and the BEST engineers produce the materials that lay the ground work for the rest. 😎 ⚒ 👷🏻♀️ " - I am of course a little bit biased so feel free to take this with a grain of salt. #MME #MetallurgicalandMaterialsEngineering

Presently looking for Post-doctoral research/ industrial position in Air and Noise Pollution, Environmental Epidemiology and /or academic faculty position in Civil cum Environmental Engineering.
I have one question, why most of the engineering aspirants have been ignoring core engineering specialisations for their career. I am agreed that there is more lucrative pay scale in IT sectors however core sectors are also have some opportunities. If the ignorance for not pursuing core engineering will continue this way a very devastating future is waiting for our society.
