ARPA-E Program Director Dr. Halle Cheeseman recently visited OPEN 2021 awardee Columbia University to check out their groundbreaking work on sodium-based long-duration batteries. These innovative batteries, which could be manufactured using traditional methods, promise significantly lower costs compared to state-of-the-art batteries. Excitingly, this research has led to the creation of a new start-up, Standard Potential Co., which aims to commercialize this transformative tech. Check out our latest OPEN funding opportunity, Vision OPEN 2024, seeking transformative technologies that align with ARPA-E's vision of the energy future: https://lnkd.in/euw5wXNM #ARPAEontheRoad

Thrilled to host Dr. Halle Cheeseman and Sean A Vail, and honored to be an ARPA-E performer. And, of course, big ups to Team Thicc here at the Columbia Electrochemical Energy Center for meeting and raising the bar. Love this team.

No more the 1 meter electrodes wound into spirals. Thicker, cheaper electrodes perfect for LDES and cells manufactured like other battery technologies

Well done team great to see this tech drawing wider recognition
