April 16th was very special for me! It marked the completion of my first internship at Rehabilitation Society of the Visually Impaired in the spoken English Department. And guess what? On that very same day, I received an offer letter for another internship. Talking about my experience at RSVI. It won't be wrong if I put it as my dream work. It wasn't just a job; it was my passion. Helping others, and making a difference. It gave me a purpose and fulfillment. My students at RSVI were not just students; they were individuals with unique and motivating stories. Never made me realize that they were visually challenged. From high schoolers to master's students, they all looked up to me as "Aayushi ma'am." Initially, that title felt heavy. Could I be their mentor, their guide? Am I capable enough? But with time, I embraced the responsibility and their trust fueled me with energy. Their cooperation and feedback guided me in shaping my teaching methods and giving my best. All of my students are an inspiration to me. Hats off to them and their determination! I owe a huge thanks to Rehabilitation Society of the Visually Impaired and especially to Prakhar Verma for believing in me. Through this experience, I grew not just professionally but as a person. I learned the true meaning of empathy, gratitude, dedication and responsibility. And oh, did I mention? April 16th was also my birthday. #internship #socialwork #education #selfgrowth #socialimpact #loveandsupport

New paper from amazing #internship scholars, w/some of the only cross-cultural studies on WBL. Such important insights for countries like the US that lack the history or regulatory structure for vocational ed like France. Plus, Drs. Ramani & McHugh open up the black box of an internship to focus on what matters - supervision, intern autonomy, task clarity - the actual work that the student performs. Research like this helps dispel the myth that simply taking an internship is an unqualified good, but that how they are structured and implemented matters. Plus - culture!
Happy to share news of our recently published paper examining internships from a cross-cultural perspective. "Cultural influences on internship developmental value and job pursuit intentions: An exploratory comparison of student experiences in France and the United States" in The International Journal of Management Education. Special thanks to my coauthor Ravi S. Ramani. For those interested in internship research, and cross-cultural studies, you may find this article a valuable read. 🔗: https://lnkd.in/ev544t4S #internships #cross-cultural #mentoring #comparative research The George Washington University School of Business Jungho Suh Matthew Hora GWSB Undergraduate Programs Ravi S.
