As any legal professional in family law can attest, the environment is rife with high-conflict people and situations — and the hostile communications that inevitably result. Thankfully, there are ways to adapt our own interactions and written communications with high-conflict people that accommodate their inability to solve problems in a normal way. One tried-and-true method is called BIFF (Brief Informative, Friendly, Firm). In this month’s Raising the Bar CLE, Bill Eddy, LCSW, CFLS, author, and co-founder of the High Conflict Institute, will empower legal professionals with a proven approach to ethically addressing challenging interactions in the legal profession. Through real-world examples, he’ll share his four-step BIFF method of writing careful and ethical communications that defuse hostility and get results.
