I speak of lynching a lot when it comes to professional spaces. It triggers some people, but there are numerous parallels to the atrocities that occurred during the US Civil Rights Movement and what continues to occur in supposed professional spaces. I use this word because no one goes to work to get slaughtered. Employees expect to be safe or at least move through an equitable process that allows them to share their truths and seek justice when rules aren't followed. Some points I've observed: 1. People who lynch people in professional spaces think they will not be punished for their actions, otherwise the wouldn’t attempt to be so evil. 2. Systems often uphold the heinous acts of harm against employees despite evidence that confirms a workplace lynching has occurred. 3. People who witness lynchings at work often remain silent for fear of retaliation or harm to them in the same way someone was lynched. I define professional lynchings and other terms in this popular 2023 #StopPlayingDiversity podcast episode. Stay safe in these workplace streets, friends. https://lnkd.in/gH8Cc2Eu
Today, Emmett Till would have turned 83 years old. In 1955, he was 14 when he was kidnapped and murdered for “inappropriately interacting with a white woman” in Mississippi. Amazing project! We at Rows.com are working our assess off to build the world's best spreadsheet. We know how hard it is to compete with world-class products. Puter.com is on a league of its own, trying to do the same for the cloud computer: build the cloudOS where you create and publish your docs & apps. I have seen it grow from almost nothing, and my intuition tells me that this rate of progress is the precursor of beautiful things: - they ship a lot of product — an ambitious product — faster than *any* other company I know. - they open-sourced the platform *and* took in contributions from the community, in code, content, bugs... - the community seems impressed enough that a lot of them are studying what's under the hood and investing time on it. - they aren't stopping (as an angel, I know their path will continue to have lots of experiments of unique new features). I am green with envy, seeing Puter makes me work much harder! always be next to the best.
This is incredibly surreal: Puter might be the (or one of the) fastest-growing commercial open-source projects in history!

Preservation easements can be such powerful tools as we seek to permanently preserve important events in US history.
A new easement in the City of Chesapeake protects property associated with the Battle of Great Bridge, the first major armed conflict of the American Revolutionary War in Virginia. This easement protects the 0.664-acre property from subdivision and future development. The city has plans to incorporate the property into the Great Bridge Battlefield & Waterways Historic Park, which is open to the public and includes a museum, an interpretive historic pathway, trails, and other attractions.
