With a "surge" of interest in gravel cycling, do we perhaps need a code of conduct to help manage conflict and preserve the landscapes we pass through? Big thanks to Markus Stitz, Kieran Foster, Sophie Gordon from Cycling UK and Thomas Turner from British Cycling for finding the time to discuss this interesting topic. Universally the key takeaway is the need for education over another code and responsibility of membership organisations, industry and event organisers to promote the type of responsible riding everyone wants to see. https://lnkd.in/eBcb7Hcx

Human-Centered Communication Strategy. Message & Brand. Tech & Process. Experience Design. Creative Director. Producer. Writer. Activist. Collab Leader. Too many?——I help organizations with a mission say it better.
This story is essential and well done, but I would also love some additional reporting on how Replica data works. I understand that in part it's cell phone tracking data (e.g. how Google measures traffic), but I'd love to know even more. How would credit card data figure in (a mention in one paragraph). And the deeper story here is that we've had little to no data on real numbers over the last 10 years—excepting when Lyft has made their data public—which is only part of the story. And how can we do this continually and not in a once-every-5-years snapshot?
This week the Chicago Sun-Times covered the work that Replica and Chicago Department of Transportation collaborated on to understand biking patterns in Chicago. Biking is up 119% between the fall of 2019 and the spring of 2023, the largest jump in any of the country’s 10 largest cities. With Replica, CDOT was able to dive into what types of trips and trip takers drove the massive jump in cycling. Thanks for collaborating David Smith, AICP https://lnkd.in/efmazbhb
Pedal mettle? Bicycling in Chicago doubled in 5 years, but bikers still worry about safety
