One common objection I often encounter is clients saying, "I've been with my broker for over x years!" Here are my thoughts on this: If you're exclusively relying on one broker for your insurance needs, how can you be sure you're getting the best options available? Even with a lifetime of experience, it's impossible to be aware of every carrier and program out there. There might be offerings in my portfolio that your current broker doesn't have access to. Engaging a second broker to review your policies can greatly benefit you! It ensures that you're receiving the optimal coverage and premiums available. However, it's essential to strike a balance. Having too many brokers involved in a single file can lead to inefficiencies and confusion when reaching out to carriers. I'm eager to hear your thoughts on this. How to lose an underwriter in 10 seconds (and pay more for your insurance) Take no ownership of your claims problem and say things like: "None of the claims were our fault." "Don't tell me how to run my business." "Do I have to do that?" "That's what insurance is for." If you've had a claims problem, address the elephant in the room right away. Honesty, ownership, and humility will serve you well. Be honest about what happened. Own your part and share how you've fixed the problem. Humbly ask if they have any other suggestions to help.
