Kelly. This film exposes the beauty competition industry, revealing how hedge funds, corporations, and media brands have turned these events into a lucrative business where glamour lies a harsh reality of non-professional women, including disabled models, exploited as unpaid workers, squeezed for every dollar while facing significant legal risks. To uncover the truth, I entered the competition with a $30,000 investment and made it to the quarter-finals, confirming the pay-to-win allegations. The tactics employed felt like gambling, especially as my opponents seemed to gain the upper hand in the final seconds during "2-for-1" vote promotions. This raises serious questions about whether government oversight is necessary for these competitions. I invite you to watch the documentary, discuss the troubling use of charity as a marketing strategy that obscures the exploitation of many including the models and less fortunate. This practice capitalizes on the sensibility and dreams of guaranteeing inclusivity as an accepted standard of beauty in mainstream outlets, promoting diversity in a business that is clearly not. What is beauty? Elle Wilson is an Australian (part Greek) entrepreneur and knows a thing or two about beauty. While Dunfermline tribute act Willi Vanilli had: * A penchant for Stephens Bakery pies which left him with curves in all the wrong places. * A half and half Spandex suit pub audiences ridiculed (spinning on a sixpence, he played the parts of Milli Vanilli's Rob AND Fab). * A steadfast refusal to wear underwear. Which led to swinging hen night gigs but a blanket ban from children's parties. Yet, by 1990, Milli Vanilli were disgraced. But Willi Vanilli was more popular than ever. Why? Cos it turned out the former had lip synched their hits - with other artists singing them. While the latter could sing like a linty. A lesson to remember. Especially when you're hiring from LinkedIn. Lots of people look the part. And sound the part. But fall apart when it comes to delivering the goods. Lots of manufactured people make it to the top of the charts. But few can belt it out when they're put on the spot. Beware of appearances. Because when it comes to business, Willi Vanilli beats Milli Vanilli. Girl, you know it's true. P.S. The simple penguin suit is a thing of the past. Men walked the red carpet last night expressing their own fashion taste and personal flair. A big similarity amongst Hollywood's leading men was a little added sparkle on the lapel and a flared trouser. Also several men rocked a boot and some with a slight heel. Whether you're a fan or not, I think much of what we saw can trickle down into our own closets. My favorite is the elevated lapel pin. You can easily add something sparkly to your jacket at your next occasion formal or casual. Most of us probably don't even need to really look too far. Before heading out to purchase your bling I would inquire with your wife, girlfriend, or even mother-in-law. They may very well have what you are looking for. If you are unable to find inspiration there I would then check out a local resale or vintage shop. Elevating your dress is about the details. If you are unsure of how, when, or what to wear having a personal stylist can alleviate the frustration. I dress men for a reason.
