Another thing I love about the new AI tools we're using is that they have absolutely revolutionized thumbnailing. We're always used ML to inform us about which aspects of a thumbnail are performing, and YouTube has always given us pretty solid A/B/C/D tools, but now, we have the ability to scrape the analytics and monitor the timecode engagement in a more intelligent manner. We can see what's performing, translate it to a text prompt, combine it with a high performing template, and have high quality base images in seconds. MrBeast is so damn good at this at the moment. They clearly have great LoRA or faceswap library, have their colors and layouts optimized against the YT UI, understand scaling as it relates to shapes and textures that draw the eye...and, of course, have a recognizable visual brand. All of that being said, everything I know about thumbnailing I learned from watching my godson interact with YouTube when he was a toddler. Ten seconds into a video, he was already scanning the sidebar, deciding what to queue up next, and though he couldn't read, he knew or could guess the title and subject of a video almost immediately. A heatmap of lil man's activity would just be one emphatic smash 😂 And though that behavior changes with age, it doesn't change much...it's lizard brain stuff. And despite the fact that the tech is making things easier, it is not changing who and what we are. To quote myself from 2014: "Video is kinetic, but the thumbnail is still the primary reason that people click on a video. Choose or design your thumbnails to be as intriguing as possible. Create a sense of action and make sure that images are intelligible, bright and read well on devices ranging from very small handheld mobile screens to 34 inch displays at 10 feet. When in doubt, use a human face. Studies have shown that thumbnails with a human face get high response. Eye contact is good, and close shots work well for social, because they feel more intimate…and intimacy, at times is the core product. All of this being said, make sure your thumbnails are indicative of content. YouTube has undertaken serious efforts to crack down on misleading thumbnails, and they also produce a high bounce rate, which can kill your monetization efforts." Anyway, here's like 10 minutes of clicky thumbnail tests using my current stack. IDK how the great shift will effect social video over time, but i am really enjoying the ability to execute and iterate at this speed.

Did you know about hidden features in Meta Ads Manager? 1. Find & Replace: You can quickly replace the 'Ad name', 'See more URL', &'Headline'. Find this option as part of the 'Edit' dropdown menu in Ads Manager after selecting campaigns, adsets or ads. 2. Generative AI: Use generative AI to expand your ad image to fit more placements. Find this option at the ad level as part of the Advantage+Creative options. 3. Generative AI Ad Copy: Use generative AI text generation to complete all the primary texts, headlines & descriptions. 4. Partner-Publisher List: You can check on which Instagram profiles your ads appeared. Go to 'Brand Safety & Sustainability', open the Partner-Publisher List, and click on 'Instagram profile & Reels Feed' that signed up for feed monetization. 5.
