One of the best things about camp is the ability to shrug off the person you are at school to try on a different persona. Loser at school? You can be funny or even Mr. Popular at camp, then take it all home with you to be a new somebody at school. The finest summer camps gives kids the confidence to try new things and grow. We see transformation at TheZone, every day. #transformation #children #youthdevelopment

📣When you hear the term “community building,” what comes to mind? The first six weeks of school? Or perhaps some icebreakers you awkwardly engaged in on the first day of sleepaway camp? Maybe your place of employment wanted to boost team morale, so you played Two Truths and a Lie. We have all participated in Community Building at some point in our lives. It’s sometimes meaningful, sometimes not, and usually fun. But when a classroom community is built in the right way, for the right purposes, it can completely transform a student’s school experience. As we return to schools nationwide today, we have reconnected with our school communities. It can be calming for some and not so much for others. Let’s remember to ensure we connect with each other as much as possible this year in whatever manner works best for ourselves. “When we understand that connection is the biggest driver for regulation, we are then able to share our calming presence to help others through their storms." Dr. Lori Desautels 🤝Connection is key. 🤝Connection communicates calm. 🤝Connection is a feeling that boosts and builds bonds that become unbreakable. #reminded #connection #wellbeing #bekind #schoolwellness #winterwellness

Recovery focused is something I greatly support when professionals try to understand the real nature of what led service users to get unwell in the first place and recognise a lot of them experienced inadequate support in the community due to the systematic failures prevailing throughout the existing services which requires a lot of improvement to be made as the main causes negatively affecting of people’s mental health rather than always blaming service users for becoming unwell and for instances causing offences in which they wouldn’t have done it if they are in their right state of mind. In other words this could have been prevented if the root causes of their problems could have been addressed at early stages and a lot attention is being paid how to solve such problems before it escalated to a total mental breakdown that lead a lot of service users end up in hospital and remain hostage of their terrible past where they are constantly interrogated of their past in hospitals which I believe is squeezing a wound and expecting a better result which is an approach far from recovery focused language and causing to remain hostage for their terrible past for the rest of their lives and stay hopeless forever!
