Trends and Transferable Skills. Recently on my podcast we discussed the topic of Trends and Transferrable skills in 2024. After reading articles from The Harvard Business Review, Indeed and LinkedIn I was surprised at what the gist was. Firstly, let’s look at the trends. What sectors are growing? Areas of demand are the Health Care sector, no surprise there, and skilled trades are screaming to be fulfilled. The third area is any AI related role. I for one am excited at what AI brings to our work life. It’s smarter so we don’t have to work harder. Any type of data driven role, analytics and creative roles are going to see sparks fly with AI tools. The skills that will be even more in demand are soft skills, communication being the leader of the pack. Human interaction will never diminish, in fact, we will need more of it to make changes and adapt. The workplace WILL look different from HR strategies to Employee engagement and not so typical work days. So, what are you doing about it? Are you up-skilling and re-skilling? Are you sharpening your skills to meet the demands? Leadership as a skill will be jumping up and down saying “here I am, pick me.” Are you crafting ideas to lead and implement? Are you sitting in a corner feeling sorry for yourself and crying the blues as to what your future holds? Pave your own path. When the going gets tough, the tough get tougher.
