Glad to have been part of the ERM team that worked with Aegis Energy on this, by helping match potential refuelling sites to future truck demands. We have adopted several different approaches to modelling this unknown: From analysing existing truck-stopping patterns, through sizing geographic clusters of truck depots and destinations, to using origin-destination models to predict where breaks in driving are likely to occur. But implementation means applying that theoretical optimisation to suitable sites. Our work with Aegis is testament to successfully bridging that gap between theory and practice.

Thrilled to announce that Aegis Energy has successfully secured a commitment of £100 million from Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners to build out our initial network of clean, multi-energy refuelling hubs for commercial vehicles, with our first site opening in 2026, and four more by 2027. This multi-energy infrastructure for trucks and vans empowers fleet operators and drivers by giving them control over their energy transition choices with each station having the capacity to serve electricity, HVO, bio-CNG and Hydrogen! The UK Government has revealed major funding for two #carboncapture sites, which will inject growth into the #industrial heartlands of England. The plans have been welcomed by #UK glassmaker Encirc as it continues on its path to #decarbonisation. Encirc Managing Director Sean Murphy said: “The government’s announcement is a huge step forward for sustainable manufacturers like ourselves, and will help support the journey towards the production of billions of low carbon glass bottles and jars for global food and drinks brands across the UK." Vidrala Group CEO Raul Gomez said: “We are living in challenging times for consumer related industries. We welcome the wide-ranging proposals on planning as well as the Plan’s emphasis on the need to protect and restore nature while we deliver new energy infrastructure: both goals are crucial and should be complementary. “As highlighted in a recent joint report by Aldersgate Group, CPRE The countryside charity and RenewableUK, it is good to see actions included on community engagement and public awareness-raising, helping to generate widespread support for these vital changes. Clean, green hydro-electric power is good for business in North Wales

🔧The Black Country Industrial Cluster (BCIC) is at the heart of the UK's metals, chemicals, and construction sectors. It faces challenges to decarbonise because it’s built on fossil fuels and consists of over 3000 mid-sized energy-intense manufacturers.    Working closely with companies and local and national government departments, BCIC supports and advocates for the development of an innovative and world-leading industrial cluster by 2040.
