West Asia tensions- Fundmental investment flaw during geopolitical issues. 💡During market corrections caused by geopolitical tensions like the current one between Iran and Israel, most investors tend to panic about their existing investments which drop in value. 💡Like any other market correction, these are times to think rationally than getting restless. Investments in equities and equity mutual funds are supposed to be made for longer period like 5 or more years. When that’s the case geopolitical problems which come up in the interim which would affect the markets for few weeks or couple of months hardly impact your investment returns which have few more years left for liquidation . 💡It’s mere basic that even without such major events, equity markets tend to have ups and downs. The level of the market in between your horizon of investment is immaterial and only the levels during the entry and exit of your investment decide your returns. 💡When you have surplus money to invest , if you see a market correction, you should jump-in to capitalise the dip by investing at that level to buy at a low price rather than thinking about your existing investment. 💡So a market event is a non -event for an existing investment made for the long term and only is an event for an entry or exit. #equitymarket #wealthmanagement

Recently, a friend asked me about the rising tensions between Iran and Israel, expressing relief over not having stock market investments. I smiled and replied, “Do you think this only affect our stock market investors? Think about it: geopolitical tensions can significantly impact international trade, disrupt markets, and lead to volatility. The oil prices are particularly sensitive to these situations, and rising prices can hit everyone’s wallets indirectly—whether or not you’re in the stock market. We live in an interconnected world where events in one region can ripple through economies globally. It’s a reminder that staying informed and understanding the broader implications of current events is crucial, regardless of our personal investment choices. Let’s keep the conversation going! How do you think global events shape our financial landscape? #GlobalEconomy #Investing #Geopolitics #OilPrices #FinancialLiteracy #globaltensions #stockmarket #internationaltrade #sensex

Given the recent market volatility, investor confidence has clearly been shaken. In times like this, it is extremely important to stay calm and remain invested with a diversified portfolio. Thomas Rupf, CFA, FRM, CAIA, our Chief Investment Officer Asia, spoke with Sri Jegarajah and Amanda Drury on CNBC Squawk Box Asia yesterday morning, highlighting opportunities in short-term US high-yield bonds as well as gold and industrial metals (energy transition) as diversifiers. They also discussed the outlook ahead for both the Japanese and Chinese markets. 🔍 Geopolitical Uncertainty Shakes Global Markets 📉 Iran's recent (02-Oct-2024) attack on Israel has sparked interest in safe-haven assets like gold and government bonds, with oil prices surging in response. Investors are treading cautiously amidst the lack of clarity on the unfolding Middle East conflict. According to Mohit Kumar, a strategist at Jefferies, market reactions remain guarded as investors await Israel's next move. The uncertainty surrounding the potential escalation of the conflict is keeping markets on edge, particularly concerning possible disruptions to oil supply. 🛢️ Oil Prices Rise on concerns of supply disruption. Heightened tensions are fueling fears of further spikes in crude prices, reminiscent of past crises. 🌍 Safe-Haven Assets Climb: Gold, bonds, and the Swiss franc have all strengthened, reflecting a broader shift towards safety amid escalating geopolitical risks. #Geopolitics #GlobalMarkets #Investing #SafeHavenAssets #OilPrices #MiddleEastConflict
