Earlier this month, I had the incredible opportunity to go to Washington, D.C., and participate in the American Enterprise Institute week-long Summer Honors Program “The American Dream Is Not Dead: Principles & Practices of Democratic Capitalism” with Dr. Michael Strain. Throughout the week, we discussed the principles underlying controversial economic debates including stagnant wages, a declining middle class, national debt, health care, free enterprise, and the morality of markets. It was truly inspiring to discuss challenging economic questions with a diverse set of students. For me, the social security debate remains one of the highlights. Thank you to the AEI team Walker Wright and Lauren Collins for creating such a meaningful week and organizing incredibly thought-provoking guest speakers and a site visit to the U.S. Congressional Joint Economic Committee. Spending the week at AEI is something I will forever be grateful for.
