Dux Gas lift 1” to 2” choke valves are quite common on wellheads and many are electric actuated, however in this instance the below Gas Lift Choke is pneumatically actuated. The pneumatic actuator is a fraction of the cost of electric units. The key to the DUX Valves success is the design and materials used to manufacture in particular the valve trims. Many will remember the Klinger KVN Piston Valves to which we now offer a similar quality without the branded price tag. A valve that is built like a tank, environmentally friendly and well known over the last 50 years as being virtually a fit and forget unit. If you are in the power generation / steam business you will know of PISTON VALVES as this is where the majority are used. Externally they look like a globe valve however its operation via a cylindrical piston passes through top and bottom bushings effectively opens and closes the valve. These are primarily isolation or on /off valves. They are extremely reliable, robust, don’t have the wear pattern of globes, have a large tight sealing area (Class VI), nearly maintenance free and if you do have to work on them long term its while in line replacing the top and bottom seal rings. Piston valves are used primarily for saturated and superheated steam and hot water service in power plants, refineries, pulp and paper mills, etc. Specific applications include steam headers and manifolds, condensate manifolds, desuperheaters, steam trap isolation, etc. Piston valves are also capable of handling gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and are also excellent on vacuum applications.
