How frustrating it is to be an SLP in almost all settings with fluctuating pay and work! There are an immense amount of job opportunities for Speech Language Pathologists. That's the good news. The bad news, almost every job in all settings, even if offered as "full time", fluctuates with hours and pay. This makes being an SLP a challenge for a single parent, single income household. It also is incredibly frustrating to offer 20+ years of experience after countless clinical hours and 2 degrees later, only to find it's almost impossible to find consistent pay without fluctuations. What can we as professionals do about this? Has anyone else experienced these frustrations over the years?

Speech-Language Pathologists help people with communication issues. We work with children and adults to improve speech, language, and social skills. For children, SLPs can help with talking, understanding language, and using words correctly. Our job is to help kids who stutter, have trouble pronouncing words, or struggle with following directions. Speech pathologists use fun activities and games to make learning enjoyable. For adults, we assist those who have had strokes, injuries, or other conditions that affect speech and language. Thus, we help improve communication skills and may also work on swallowing difficulties, teaching safe eating techniques. You need an SLPs support for expressing yourselves better and connecting with others, making a big difference in your daily lives. If you’re struggling, an SLP is always there to help you out! #speechpathologists #communicationdisorders #communication #speechtherapy #speechforall

Did you know about 1% of the world's population stutters? Stuttering is one of many communication disorders treated by speech pathologists. As the older generations continue to age 👵, the demand for treatment from these communication experts continues to rise. What does it take to be successful in this role? Educational requirements can vary, but in general you should study something that develops your communication and analytical skills before getting a master's degree 🎓 in SLP along with any training, licenses and certifications as required. On a human level, speech pathologists deal with people directly in difficult, stressful situations so the ability to emphasize and understand others on a deeper level is also a must. #SpiritofEnglish students are uniquely positioned to excel in this kind of role.
