AeroDelft’s Post

Preparing for the Future of Hydrogen Flight! As we move closer to testing with liquid hydrogen (LH2), we’re getting familiar by practicing with liquid nitrogen (LN2). LN2 is a great training fluid, slightly more forgiving than LH2 since it’s non-flammable and a touch warmer at -196°C compared to LH2’s -253°C! 🥶 The prototype, also referred as The Iron Bird, was originally built by previous teams. This year, we’ve been diving deep into learning how to operate and manage its electronics ourselves. This was our second LN2 run of the year! The journey continues, more exciting developments are on the horizon! 💙
