Check out our recently drafted white paper for Owlet Babycare. This white paper evaluates the accuracy of FDA-cleared BabySat pulse oximeter in a home monitoring study. Pulse oximeters have now become an integral part of routine new born screening. It can not only identify infants with congenital heart defects but it also allows for early detection of many other conditions which may present with hypoxemia such as infections, lung disease, hemoglobinopathy, or persistent pulmonary hypertension, before severe symptoms are apparent. Hence it is critical to ensure the accuracy of its readings. Several factors can affect pulse oximetry readings such as movement, skin color and placement of the probe. In this white paper, Owlet has published the results of recently conducted home monitoring clinical study to evaluate the accuracy of BabySat Pulse oximeter.

Daily Critical Care Pearls #199: What is the supporting evidence for administering Vimpat (lacosamide) by IV push in adults and pediatric patients? ✅️ Prescribing information for Vimpat (lacosamide) allows for rapid infusions lasting 15 minutes in adults and 30 minutes in children, but does not discuss parameters around intravenous (IV) pushes. ✅️ In the adult population, lacosamide appears to be both safe and tolerable as an IV push at dosages up to 400 mg (see Tables 1-7). ✅️ There is a lack of data to support the use of IV push lacosamide in the pediatric patient population. #criticalcare #clinicalpharmacy #medicine #pearls

As an IP Pharmacist, I am passionate about supporting patients with Asthma. It's concerning to see articles like this one that highlights the gaps in patient care. Simple steps like ensuring patients are on the right preventer inhaler and know how to use it effectively can make a massive difference. My role is to educate patients to look after themselves or to care for people they are responsible for. However, if a patient attends a 10-minute monthly appointment every month at their practice, that's only 2 hours a year. For 8758 hours, they are on their own. We can, and must do better for our Asthmatic patients. Let's work together to ensure they receive the care they need and deserve. #AsthmaAwareness #PatientCare #Healthcare
