“What made you accept the offer?” “Why us over another opportunity?” “When in your process did you feel most confident about your fit for this role?” Hiring managers, take time in some of your first few meetings with new hires to uncover why they joined your team. If you can attach their work to that why, you’ll both be off to a fast start. Don’t assume you know their motivations. Uncover them. Align with them. That’s where the gold is.

Everyone is saddened to see more upcoming job losses. This time with VM Ware in Ballincollig, Cork, Ireland. If you're affected by redundancy or job loss, avoid pigeon holing yourself. Look at your knowledge and skills with a focus on which are transferable. Search across different jobs boards at various roles instead of just what you've been doing. Open your mind, read job descriptions. Research, learn and understand that there are options. Example: Does your sector have regulation? If so, people from your sector are usually qualified to move across as your knowledge is valuable. Selling a product or service? Those selling skills are transferable. Marketing is likewise. Ask people who will answer honestly, what you're good at and weak at. List these things and think about where they are also used. Get your CV sorted (not just updated). And as you're reading this, do job searches on here and save them so you get notifications. Register with recruiters who handle roles you'd be interested in. Make your job, finding a new one. Get up, get ready and get stuck in every day. Relentlessly to a daily time schedule. Yes Daily! A few things you need to know about our hiring process and what to expect 👇 📧 Our in-house recruiting team 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 sends communications out using email addresses from Clio.com and occasionally through Workday, our applicant tracking system. 📲 Our recruitment process generally includes a phone screen with a recruiter, followed by scheduled interviews with the hiring manager hosted on Zoom. ⛔ The process may vary slightly depending on the role and department, but we do 𝐧𝐨𝐭 use any other third-party applications (i.e. Skype, Telegram) to communicate with applicants. Since #rue21 began its liquidation, I started looking for other jobs. Most positions I applied for required interviews with the recruiter, the District Manager (DM), and the Regional Manager (RM). Talking to the recruiter was a waste of time; they only set up interviews and then disappeared, without any decision-making power in the hiring process. But it’s a job. Many companies require at least two interviews for hiring. If the RM doesn't trust the DM to make the right decisions, why have a DM in that position? Similarly, if the DM doesn't trust the Store Manager (SM) to hire their assistant managers, why is that SM managing the store? Why is a second opinion necessary to decide if a candidate is suitable for the job? Great managers don't need to be micromanaged. They understand the consequences of poor hiring decisions and act accordingly.
