#DisruptiveTech 🔵 We are starting to see a convergence of technologies including high power density motors and turbo-generators. This has led to a turboelectric adaptive engine is designed to behave like a turbojet or a turbofan in a single unit. Is this the future of more efficient jet engines?

In May 2024, the FAA approved the first electric aviation training program in the country, marking increased efforts to develop greener battery-powered aircraft and create a sustainable future. FAA-PMA approved interchangeable M3 batteries of varying amp-hour sizes, are expected to enable aircraft companies to change batteries without modifications. Marathon’s batteries optimize performance and dependability through Polymer Bonded Electrode (PBE) technology, greatly reducing maintenance costs compared to standard nickel-cadmium. It provides longer flight hours between services, increased capacity retention, and fast, cooler engine starts. Dual Fuel and Power Systems At Unicorn Aviation, reliability isn't just a feature — it's a necessity. Our fuel injection systems are equipped with dual circuits for both fuel supply and electrical power. This means that, even in the unlikely event of a system failure, the second circuit seamlessly takes over, ensuring the engine continues to function without interruption. Why is this important? In the air, even a brief engine failure can lead to critical situations. Our dual-system design provides an extra layer of security, giving pilots the peace of mind that comes from knowing their engine is supported by a redundant system. This isn't just a backup — it's part of our commitment to flawless performance. By integrating this technology, we’re offering a new level of assurance for ULM pilots, reducing risks and allowing them to focus on the journey ahead, rather than worrying about the reliability of their systems. #UnicornAviation #ULMAviation #FuelInjection #ULMAviationSafety #InjectionCarburant

🚀 High-Voltage Batteries in Electric Propulsion (EP) Aircraft 🚀 High-Voltage batteries in EP aircraft aren’t just upgrades of conventional aircraft batteries—they’re a whole new ball game. With higher energy capacity, voltage levels, and a lot more complexity, these batteries will power eVTOL aircraft using high-energy lithium-ion chemistries, which can be quite volatile. ⚡ To meet the power needs for AAM aircraft, multiple smaller voltage cells are combined, requiring sophisticated Battery Management Systems (BMS) to monitor and balance them. This complexity introduces potential failure points, making specialized training and stringent safety protocols essential. The attached white paper attempts to provide a broad overview of what is involved to power this novel technology we all know as AAM. #Aviation #ElectricPropulsion #BatteryTech #SafetyFirst

A report by SAAB RBS predicts that 10 per cent of worldwide emissions could come from flying. Yet, if the aerospace industry adopts electric propulsion, this figure could remain steady at two-to-five per cent. However, electric aircraft systems present their own challenges — especially when it comes to mitigating electrical currents. Here, Chris Johnson, managing director of bearing specialist SMB Bearings, examines why industrial bearings plus right choice of lubricant will also be essential in tomorrow’s electrified aircraft systems.
