Our Founder & CEO, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Josef Kallo sat down with Aerospace Testing International to discuss our latest achievements and provide an outlook on the future of sustainable aviation. The biggest barrier to the widespread adoption of zero-emission aircraft? Fossil fuels as we use them today are far too cheap. Josef shares: "As with any innovative technological advancement, the world needs to grow in confidence, which then leads to acceptance. A way to speed this process up is through government and expert acceptance, which we’re already starting to see through EU-funded research programs. However, there needs to be an increase in the money spent on R&D and infrastructure across the globe." Read the full interview via the link in the comments. #SustainableAviation #Innovation

My colleague Neranjana De Silva has just released our study on de-carbonising the aerospace supply chain, “Decarbonizing the aerospace industry from the ground up”. The study focuses on Scope 3 Cat. 1 “Purchased Goods & Services”. For most aerospace suppliers, this is the second largest Scope 3 contribution (after Scope 3 Cat. 11 “Use of Sold Products” – which suppliers cannot typically do much to influence). Rather than waiting for SAF or revolutionary new technology, emissions from Purchased Goods & Services can be tackled by the aerospace industry now; furthermore, there are instances where actions to reduce emissions also generate increased resilience and cost reductions – a “triple dividend” in our terminology. Further details are available from the study at: https://lnkd.in/eFa_gZ_w

The MAA are pleased to announce the launch of the ASSIST Programme as part of the West Midlands Innovation Programme 2.0 in partnership with West Midlands Combined Authority, Innovate UK, UK Research and Innovation, Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, Innovation Alliance for the West Midlands. The programme aims to improve the take-up of innovation funding by West Midlands based Aerospace Supply Chain SMEs. We will be talking to SMEs on both sides – those who have and those who haven’t participated in national innovation funding programmes and we will use what we learn to help funders engage more effectively. We will also develop a process to engage swiftly with Aerospace Supply Chain companies and match them to suitable funding sources, and this will be piloted with 6 West Midlands companies over the next few months. #WMIA #WestMidlandsInnovation #WMPlanforGrowth #aerospaceindustry #aerospaceindustries #aerospacemanufacturing #aerospaceengineering #advancedmanufacturing #advancedengineering #ukmanufacturing #ukengineering #manufacturingindustry #manufacturinguk #engineeringuk #ukmfg #aerospace #manufacturingnews #smebusiness #smesupport #smegrowth #smeuk #innovation
