Free business advice. "building the plane in flight" as a common practice is a great way to create sub-standard planes, lose planes, and lose pilots.

We are big believers in advanced air mobility. And I’m honored to serve on the state’s AAM Advisory Commitee with the Texas Department of Transportation. First - we love all aircraft. Second - and more selfishly - this technology will help us connect the career and education opportunities on our campus with people living in the abundant urban, suburban, and rural area that make up San Antonio (and most of Texas). Our 1,900 acre campus is tailor made for AAM and to prove up the use cases that will allow this industry to jump start economic mobility for our community and beyond. Some examples - - We have added 8,000 jobs to our campus in the past 6 years and expect to add 12 to 18,000 more in the coming 7-10 years. Every 1,000 people that we can move in to and from our campus (even if only to park and rides on our campus or, even better, around our city) saves about $30 million in parking structure costs. This is on top of the savings on public investment in streets, bridges, and public transportation. - We have multiple customers that move goods and people from various parts of our campus and to and from surrounding military installations. AAM allows more efficient transit saving both new bridge and gate costs as well as the costs of staffing these access points. - We own and control our entire campus including residential, commercial, and industrial facilities and areas that can be used as use case air corridors proving safe, efficient, and repeatable operations without the added complications from operating over multiple landowners. - Perhaps best of all, our Boeing Center at Tech Port and Area 21 presented by the San Antonio Museum of Science and Technology allow showcase operations giving the public the chance to see, touch, and experience both the technology and the career fields it is opening throughout the world. And we haven’t even mentioned the opportunities for disaster aid, humanitarian and military logistics, digital twinning, and beyond. Come see why we’re so excited. It's still common to find airsickness bags on airplanes. However, the probability of someone vomiting on a plane is actually less than 1%. 🤮 If it's so unlikely, why so many bags? Let's take a look at the history of airsickness. 🤓 The first commercial flight took place in 1914. At that time, cabins were not pressurized. Planes flew at around 5,000 feet; half the height from which a skydiver would usually skydive. At 5,000 feet, there are many air currents. Flights were turbulent, noisy, and the smell from the plane's exhaust pipe would enter the cabin. Smoking was allowed. During that time, vomiting on a flight was almost inevitable. Flying was like being trapped in a blender with toxic gases. But people flew anyway. 😖✈️ It wasn't until 1946 when pressurized cabins debuted on the Boeing 307 Stratoliner. It flew at 20,000 feet, allowing for a much more stable and comfortable flight. 🚀 🔑 Flying has been one of humanity's great achievements. Remembering the history of achievements like this provides keys to understanding our natural intelligence. It evolves, like nature. It grows, changes, pushes boudaries and leaves things in oblivion. So much of what was common at the beginning of commercial flights is now unthinkable. So unthinkable that you probably never knew or questioned it.
