Couldn't be more excited to speak and share insights into TC Energy's transformation journey - The Focus Project - at next week's Transformation in Energy conference in Calgary, May 14 - 16 at Hotel Arts. While no two transformations are alike, the successful ones all share common attributes. A focus on four critical pillars - strategy, leadership/culture, people and technology - can greatly impact your chances of success. Each of these pillars play a critical role in enterprise level change. They all interact with each other in complex, and at times, messy ways. Spending the right amount of time, energy and focus on getting these four pillars right is crucial. Very honored to have contributed to the latest International Energy Agency (IEA) report - "Empowering urban energy transitions” - highlighting the seminal role of digital solutions (both hardware and software) in the energy transition process in urban areas. Grateful to Vida Rozite, Brendan Reidenbach, Emi Bertoli, Silvia Laera and the IEA’s Digital Demand Driven Electricity Networks Initiative (3DEN) team for the opportunity to collaborate on this study! As urban areas account today for around 75% of global energy consumption, 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions and are expected to grow, the decarbonisation of cities is a global priority. They are uniquely positioned to lead the way and serve as transition accelerators because of their high population densities and positioning as centres of commerce, productivity and innovation. Illustrated by a wide range of projects and initiatives implemented around the world, this study showcases the leading role that cities can play in implementing faster decarbonisation and energy efficiency gains. The report also highlights the supportive roles that national governments need to play to empower cities towards faster and more effective implementation. Supporting city-level action has the potential to provide the greatest carbon mitigation return on investment and accelerate inclusive clean energy transitions. 🌍 Exciting News from Brazil! 🌍 CEM and MI Members build momentum towards a potential joint workstream on Sustainable Cooling. On October 2, 2024, Bureau of Energy Efficiency and the UN Environment Programme Cool Coalition, with support from Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) and the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM), organized the high-level dialogue Deploying and Investing in Highly Efficient Innovative Cooling Solutions for All.🌱 2023 saw the warmest year on record with many countries experiencing extreme temperatures and increased uptake of inefficient cooling solutions across a range of sectors. To address these challenges and opportunities, CEM and MI members discussed the possibility of joint working, which would foster collaboration and knowledge exchange and focus on practical innovation and evidence to support deployment of efficient and innovative solutions to address key challenge sectors for sustainable cooling. Some of these members expressed an interest to continue these discussions in a formal working group. A huge thank you to all the speakers and attendees for their valuable contributions.
