I'm often asked by business leaders how to increase female representation at the most senior level. And whilst many organisations have now created meaningful succession plans, these will pay dividends tomorrow - not today. Navigating the corporate landscape presents unique challenges for senior women leaders who often encounter barriers in career development, hindering their progress. From unconscious bias to systemic obstacles, even those who ‘make it’ continue to be presented with challenges that their male counterparts do not experience. And yet, recent research revealed that companies with strong female leadership outperform their peers by 35% financially, but in 2022, only 13% of new CEO appointments were to women and female leaders. Join our expert panel for an insightful discussion on how organisations can explore strategies to engage, develop, and retain women in leadership roles, nurturing them into future business stalwarts. Attend this event and you will discover: * The challenges causing female leaders to leave – and how to address them * The power of male allies in fostering a truly inclusive environment * Actionable steps to attract, develop, and retain high-performing women leaders. LinkedIn Top Voice • International Speaker Author Consultant on Leadership Culture Diversity and Inclusion • Founder of Quietly Powerful • Co-Founder of Leaders Who Listen
I’m pleased to see that Yu-Lan Chan will be speaking on the topic of ‘How your quiet nature is your hidden leadership strength’ at the Public Sector Women In Leadership summit later in August. The summit will also feature three former female prime ministers - Julia Gillard, Theresa May and Helen Clark - so it’s very exciting to see the topic of Quietly Powerful leadership being addressed at such a prestigious event. Yu-Lan Chan is the CEO of the Gaming and Racing Commission as well as an Executive Branch Manager for Access Canberra in the ACT Government. I had the pleasure of speaking to her earlier this year as part of the Quietly powerful interview series. We explored how Yu-Lan effectively uses her quieter approach to leadership in roles that require juggling competing stakeholder interests, and where accessing a wide range of opinions is crucial. In this short clip, Yu-Lan talks about the need for leaders who say they value diversity to exhibit that in the way they interact with each other and with their various stakeholders. As she points out, if achieving diversity and the best outcome for everybody is a core value for an organisation, then its leaders need to ensure they hear from a range of different perspectives and styles. This requires utilising a style of leadership that draws out quieter voices, rather than solely relying on people speaking up in meetings. You can access the full interview in the Quietly Powerful LinkedIn Group Page at https://lnkd.in/gbg-qpF. The Public Sector Women In Leadership Summit will be held in Canberra on 28-29 August. I’ll post a link in comments for those who would like to know more. #qplinterviews #diversityandinclusion #quietlypowerful #leadership
