#ThoughtLeadership: Cyber ranges and other simulated environments are invaluable in preparing the war fighter for real wartime situations. However, and somewhat surprisingly, the impact of networks on combat effectiveness is frequently overlooked when developing these platforms. Our new corporate member, Calnex Solutions, explains why, if we are to fully prepare our personnel, the ability to introduce network realism into the training environment will be critical to ensuring mission success: https://lnkd.in/eZbrb5x9

We concur that the whole purpose of purple teaming is to build stronger defensive capabilities, making it look more like a blue team. though, the concept of emulating how these cyber attacks are achieved is what makes it offensive as well. A line from "The fifth domain" says: the scenario between adversaries is the balance between offence and defence. I have come to an understanding that purple teaming is that "scenario" which makes it more than just a team, a capability to generate, quantifying and qualifying the whole concept of Threat Informed Defense. I would like to recommend that the book *The Fifth Domain* for purple teamers out there and any other security professionals even in military or government organisations.
