•• THIS CREATIVE WEARS MANY HATS: THE STORYTELLER •• When I began to slowly uncover the creative in me, it started out as being a story writer for Queen Idia Press Organisation, University of Ibadan, in 2019. I remember writing my very first story too enthusiastically, such that I greatly exceeded the expected word count, which was 1,000 words. My Editor-in-chief then was quite shocked, and she made me see the beauty in conciseness, as the excellent editor she was. I started to build my portfolio then, as a storyteller, with about 8-10 stories (one for each week of publication) each semester. The storylines got better, and the characters were better crafted as I progressed in the area of storytelling. As much as I love writing the most creative and culturally influenced stories, my attention was quickly diverted to other creative spaces. But, I must say that wearing the storyteller hat has greatly helped in all other aspects, when it comes to being a creative. Why? 📌 Everybody loves a good story. 📌 Every marketing campaign needs a great storyline to drive its target audience to make profitable decisions, because stories appeal to human emotions and pain points. 📌 Writing stories will also broaden your imagination and give you unique perspectives in other forms of writing, giving you a unique voice. So, how does this story end? **To be continued**

After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the things we need most in the world!! As a screenwriter and IP enthusiast, I’ve always believed in the transformative power of storytelling. But it wasn't until I released one of my earliest movies, a movie that explored how African firstborns are treated, that I truly discovered just how deep that power runs—especially its ability to connect and convert. While scrolling through the comment section of this movie on YouTube, I was floored by how many people shared their personal stories, perspectives, and experiences that mirrored the themes of the film. What started as a narrative from my imagination sparked a real, emotional conversation with viewers! These conversations bridged gaps, created community, and invited others to reflect on their own lives. In that moment, I realized that storytelling is more than just a medium for entertainment. It is a bridge, a tool that allows us to connect on a deeper level, foster empathy, and, most importantly, inspire action. The way people related to my movie showed me that a well-crafted story doesn’t just entertain. It converts; turning passive viewers into engaged audiences and advocates for the message. This the reason I am increasingly focusing on using storytelling; not just for creative expression, but to build a brand that resonates and creates lasting impact. Once storytelling is well done, your brand becomes more than just a product or service. It becomes a story people want to be a part of. As I continue my journey as a screenwriter, my goal is to bring the same emotional depth and relatability that sparks conversation from my movies into the work I do. I cannot wait for what lies ahead with my the stories yet untold. Have you discovered the power of storytelling? How do you think it can impact your brand? #tss2.0 #Storytelling #BrandGrowth #Screenwriting #Impact #Film #NarrativePower #ContentCreation #CreativeJourney #PersonalGrowth

Short stories have revived relevance today with advertising now digging gold out of the concept of brand story development. Platforms like Ted Talks promote the concept by leveraging the impact of inspiring life stories in audio format. The SOP for creating a good short story remains traditional and is as follows: ● Limit plot lines ● Restrict the number of characters ● Reduce the backstory ● Cut down the conflict to just one event ● Edit until it hurts But the key lies in the last point. No matter how good a story is, it can always be made more concise and compelling. To be a good short story writer, one needs to be a ruthless editor. You should ✅ Combine characters where possible ✅ Delete transitory hotch potch and get right to the meat ✅ Get rid of repetition ✅ Toss out unnecessary wordiness ✅ Make every sentence count From personal experience I add this: Hone the art of being intriguing without being irritating. Trust me it's an art. You must be able to objectively assess if you would be impressed were you a reader/listener to your own story. #creativity #content #writers Payal Mittal Talwar(PCC) Priyanka Renjen Kumar, PCC Shambhavi Pande WINGS Team WINGS & WORDS

Storytelling is king, queen, bishop heck, even the sepoy! But actually enna dhaan storytelling? And is there a perfect way to craft content with it? If you’re a writer, this question would have atleast once popped into your head—especially when you’re looking for inspiration and checking the algorithm updates! Stories are… -> Imperfect -> Unique -> Konjam strange -> Happy moments irukum -> Sorrowful twistsum irukum But oru lesson kandippa irukum. That’s the beauty of storytelling—no fixed formula, no rules. Just real, raw experiences that connect with people. Enna solringa? Do you structure your stories or just let them flow?

🎬 Ever wondered how different genres impact your writing structure? ✍️ Here’s how I approach it: In comedy, I dive into creating characters who are deeply flawed and hilariously irrational—think of the neurotic quirks in Seinfeld. These characters obsess over trivial things, which fuels the comedy and drives the story. 😆 In contrast, when writing a mystery or procedural, the flawed central characters face challenges like addiction or OCD. They make unusual choices in solving their cases, but these choices differ significantly from the comedic approach. 🕵️♂️ Understanding these nuances can really shape how you craft your stories, whether you're aiming for laughs or suspense. 📚✨ #writingtips #storytelling #comedywriting #mysterynovel #characterdevelopment #writingcommunity #creativewriting #genrewriting #seinfeld

Quick tip: Everything you publish should push the conversation forward. It should add something new, novel, and nuanced to what’s already out there. It shouldn’t just repurpose, remix or regurgitate other material that already exists. This is also true for copywriting and corporate work. A lot can be learned from the #pitching process. - What’s the story? The characters, conflict, colour, scenes. - How does exploring XX showcase a larger universal issue/revelation about XX - Why is it important, and why now? - Why should we care? This is why I love working as a #reporter and #writer. There are lessons from working with editors from some of the most well-respected titles (e.g. Business Insider, Nat Geo, CNET) that are applicable to brands and businesses - and vice versa.

Stop writing boring stories. Use this simple formula to make them better: Non-Linear storytelling involves “scattering” the arrangement of the events in your story. Rather than go from: A > B > C > D The story goes from: D > B > A > C Making it unpredictable and suspenseful. This technique is used by legendary Hollywood filmmakers to: - Create captivating plots. - Keep audiences hooked. - Tell unusual stories. Yet many writers don’t know about it. Or how to use it. I break this formula down in this week’s newsletter post. Read it here - https://lnkd.in/dvuGbyZX (📌This formula can be used in all forms of writing.) ________ ♻️ Repost to teach someone on your feed. Follow Aderinto Ebunoluwa and click #EbunWrites for more posts. P.S - This is my favourite “unconventional” storytelling technique. What’s yours?

Every one is making content But no one is story telling. Just because you make content as a brand doesn’t mean you’re telling a story. The art of storytelling is truly in the hands of writers, readers, editors and filmmakers. Brands are needing to become filmmakers even within their short form (short film) The days of hyper edits only last for visceral effect or hook but they don’t capture and nurture your audience when you lack story, vision or direction.

𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 In storytelling, especially after the advent of cinema, a style of writing and speaking emerged where the author or director could keep the reader waiting. This phenomenon, with the advent of cinema and special effects, gave writers more freedom. Notice that I didn’t say it made their work easier. 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 is a 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘹𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺, 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯, or 𝘥𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘵. In a dramatic work, suspension is the anticipation of the outcome of a plot or the resolution of an uncertainty or mystery. A 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫 is like a writer who has to keep their readers with them, and this is one of the best techniques for this purpose. Content creation at the 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨 is a professional endeavor that adheres to all storytelling principles, and we love doing this in the creation of scientific content. #StorytellingMagic #CreativeWriting #SuspenseInWriting #CinematicStorytelling #ContentCreation #InnovativeMarketing #RichAndPlainStudio #EngagingContent #ScientificContent #MarketingStrategy
