I'm getting very frustrated seeing Social Media Manager job descriptions saying I need to know Adobe Photoshop and Creative Suite. While having those skills are useful, it's not a social media manager's job to make full-on marketing materials for companies where you need to make complex graphics and learn high-end video editing software. We already edit reels, create strategies, write the copy, create the content calendar, and do community management. We are not getting paid enough to do all the other things. While I can edit amazing videos, if you want a very complex video or animation, hire a real editor. While I am proficient in Canva, if you want social media post graphics that are also going on your email blasts, newsletters, and all your marketing materials, hire a graphic designer.
