Ranchers and Astronauts... Athletes and Bakers.... Engineers and Educators ..what ties them all together? #STEM Education. Providing access to #stemeducation programs at an early age can change the narrative for rural communities. Typically, rural communities face unique challenges in accessing quality STEM education due to limited resources, geographic isolation, and a lack of exposure to STEM opportunities. However, the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation STEM Center programs are fostering a strong connection between rural communities and STEM education. This is essential for promoting economic development, bridging the digital divide, and empowering the next generation with the skills needed for success in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. The Ripken Foundation's focus on community engagement, mentorship, and partnerships with local industries plays a pivotal role in nurturing STEM interest and proficiency among rural youth, that ultimately contributes to the progress and prosperity of students and their communities.

When a baby drops a spoon, it isn't just about a lack of fine motor skills; it's about their innate fascination with cause and effect - a cornerstone of scientific inquiry. Children are naturally inquisitive, drawn to explore the world around them through STEM. Unfortunately, this spark can diminish as they progress through school. It's important that we continue to nurture their curiosity and equip them with the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are essential for their future success in a STEM-driven workforce. 📚 Global Classroom Revolution will look like a place of learning where students from various corners of the world will join onsite or remotely. They will not only learn maths, science, or history. The first priority of this global classroom will be interactive sessions of the global community with each other. 📚When I talk about the global community interaction, it means that human fellows will share and have cultural orientations. They will introduce themselves to each other through the exchange of cultural values. They will invite each other to share the amazing cultural values of each other's community. Stories that we never heard in a classroom setting. 📚Stories that will connect us with humans living far away from us. Stories that will develop empathy and altruism to serve the other global community members. Stories that will inspire humans to connect and serve through various forms of service that can be the exchange of knowledge. Going to volunteer in another country, though you get hospitality and kindness values. 📚This is the global classroom where our motivation is to develop and transfer the true human values of kindness, forgiveness, and positive change of hope. #unlockpotential #potentialmatters #Inclusiveness #Education #Globalclassroom #Potentialmatters

🧑🔬 What did you want to be when you grew up? For kids in rural and regional areas, the answer might centre around wholeheartedly rural jobs. But what if we could shine a light on an option they hadn't thought too much about yet: STEM. AIBN PhD scholars Tanika Duivenvoorden and Yusra Rabbani are among 140 or so Queensland researchers who serve as Young Science Ambassadors for the award-winning Wonder of Science program, an initiative designed to spread the word about STEM to kids in rural, regional, and remote schools. “It’s inspiring for us, inspiring for the kids, and a reminder of the responsibilities we have because we tend to get too bogged down into our research we forget to give back to the community,” Yusra says. “I've asked a lot of kids like, ‘well, what do you want to do when you grow up?’ and in these regional and rural towns they say they want to be a farmer, they want to be a mechanic because – understandably - that is what a lot of people around them are doing. “And there is nothing wrong with these careers – but a lot of these kids might not even realise what is available to them. That a career in STEM is possible for them if they are interested.” Tanika, whose research at the AIBN focuses on modelling electrolytes and interfaces in rechargeable batteries, has been with Wonder of Science for just over a year. “The whole idea behind the project is to increase STEM engagement and show kids what a career in science might look like.” #WonderofScience #WOSqld #STEM #STEMcareers #AIBNatUQ #ECRs #regionalqld #science
