UNMISS Empowers Kayango With Solar-Powered Police Post For Enhanced Security Kayango, situated in Western Bahr El Ghazal’s Jur River county, has long been a focal point for seasonal cattle migration, with four corridors intersecting in this strategic locale. Despite efforts such as the 2016 Marial Bai Agreement to regulate disputes arising from annual cattle movements, clashes between nomadic herders from neighboring Warrap state and settled communities persist, accompanied by a surge in criminal activities. In a bid to enhance security and uphold the rule of law along this vital corridor, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) recently inaugurated a newly constructed police post, a significant milestone in ongoing […] Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/dbChf2n5 #solarenergy #alternativeenergy #solarpv #pvsolar #photovoltaic #cleanenergy #cleantech #climatechange #middleeast #africa #india #asiapacific #asia #africa #renewableenergy #solarenergy #southsudan #unitednationsmissioninsouthsudan

Transboundary cooperation to manage the shared risk that is affecting thousands of families is critical, but that is just a dream for now. So, we embarked on a fact finding mission to support immediate short term solutions including anticipatory actions. #TransboundaryFlooding #ClimateAction #Cooperation"

🚧 ENHANCING EFFICIENCY IN ROAD MAINTENANCE The Fund is addressing the challenge of variations in unit costs of similar road maintenance works among Designated Agencies that can’t be explained by topographic and climatic differences. We are using a unit cost framework to harmonise unit rates across the different regions of the country. These guidelines issued every FY address unit rates per region. ↘ Read the Uganda Road Fund Annual Report 2022/23 https://lnkd.in/dvdFY8Js #RoadPerformanceAnalysis #RoadMaintenanceug #URFatWork #FinancingRoadmaintenance #FollowYourMoney #RoadMaintenance #InfrastructureDevelopment

A CLIP OF MY LIVE INTERVIEW ON THE NATIONAL BROADCASTER, ZNBC Africa Access Water is part of the stakeholders intervening in the drought situation in Zambia. ZNBC invited us to discuss this, and we are grateful. During the discussion, we highlighted the following: 1. What we do at AfAW. 2. Partners supporting us on infrastructure and project implementation, such as Tevel and MashaV, and the Segal Family Foundation on institutional capacity so that we can deliver our mission. 3. His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema's call for K23 billion for humanitarian aid. We specifically discussed the allocation of K3 billion for water resource development and management, and K2.5 billion for agricultural production as part of the early recovery and resilience intervention. 4. Planned winter maize cultivation using solar-powered water as a sustainable relief food intervention. 5. A call for collaboration among different stakeholders. 6. AfAW's goal of establishing 50 sites in the next 5 years. www.africaaccesswater.org #solarpoweredwater #tevel #segalfamilyfoundation #mphandeproject

A massive landslide has devastated Papua New Guinea's Enga Province, burying a significant portion of the village of Yambali. The scale of the disaster is immense, with estimates suggesting that over 2,000 people may have been buried alive as a result of the mountain's collapse while they slept. This catastrophic event has caused widespread destruction, damaging buildings and wiping out food gardens, further straining the nation's already limited resources. Rescue efforts are being hindered by the remote location and challenging terrain of the affected area. In a show of solidarity, the Ministry of External Affairs in India has pledged $1 million in immediate support to aid relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts. The current state of Road condition from Vanimo-Aitape is like this known as the "missing link." I see this and just imagine people living along this road corridor how they will be accessible are main services can be reached. After 40years of independence and roads connecting villages to towns and cities should be a thing of the past. Very well, thankyou to ADB for being the lead funder for this road project under DOWAH and Connect PNG. I believe it will be a thing of the past. #FinnOC_DOWAH_ADB_Momase_Northern_Road_Corridor
