Now is a good time for hospitality businesses to start planning for 2024, specifically in identifying events and occasions that may require a Temporary Event Notice (TEN). As of the 1 January 2024, a Premises’ TEN entitlement has reduced back to the pre-Covid levels of 15 TENs covering no more than 21 days. Difference between displaying time intervals. You should use days of the week for positive events (vacations, conferences, festivals). These events will seem longer, helping you justify ticket prices. You should use calendar dates for negative events (shipping, construction, detours). These events will seem shorter, helping you minimize the perceived hassle.* #behavioraldesign #digitalmarketing #business #behavioralmarketing #promosapiens *Nick Kolenda *https://lnkd.in/e_dVpyvF

TEN things about Temporary Event Notices (“TENs”): 1. Per the below, we’re back to the “old” allowance for TENs (15 TENs covering no more than 21 days per calendar 📅 year). 2. You can give a TEN as far in advance of your event as you like. In my 📕, there’s really no excuse 🤷🏻♂️ for giving Late TENs. 3. Conversely, there are deadlines for giving a TEN or a Late TEN before an event (at least 10 clear working days/at least 5 clear working days respectively). 4. Moving on, clear working days DOES NOT include the day you give the notice or the day of the event. 5. Working days no longer includes Monday or Friday. I JOKE, but do remember deadlines for TENs are calculated in “working days” and not “days.” People forget that. 6. Giving a Late TEN last thing on a Friday afternoon will make you immensely unpopular 🤬 with Licensing, Police and Evironmental Health Officers. If you *must* give a Late TEN then a quick phone 📞 call to the likely recipients will soften the blow. 7. Don’t just assume you have to give TEN for a particular event. Have a look at the non-standard timings on your premises Licence first. You may be pleasantly surprised 😀. 8. There are legal requirements for keeping a copy of the TEN at the event though I’m going to stick my neck 🦒 out and say these are honoured in the breach. 9. The maximum duration of a TEN is 168 hours (7 days) but there must be at least 24 hours between each TEN you give. 10. I started writing this thinking “oh God, how am I going to find 10 things to say about TENs” 🤦🏻♂️ but actually, there’s much more I could say. Having said that, if I gave the game away completely, I’d be out of a job quicker than you can say Temporary Event Notice. Got ?s - please get in touch. Thanks for reading 👍🏻
