The AFS Youth Assembly is starting in New York City! 600+ youth from around the world are coming together to learn, network, and create an impact that will advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The theme for this year's event is "Forge Our Shared Future" exploring humanitarian crises, future of education, climate action, and food security. A select group of Youth Assembly Delegates have already joined our Academies, specialized hands-on learning programs focusing on International Affairs, Changemaking, Climate Entrepreneurship and Education. Thank you to the Center for Social Impact Strategy, NYU School of Professional Studies, and AFS Intercultural Programs USA for delivering such meaningful content to the delegates. Many thanks to bp for providing scholarships to 125 young leaders to join the Academies and advance their social impact. Fifty diverse students from Scotland, England and Wales have been granted scholarships to participate in the AFS Global STEM Innovators: a six-week intercultural exchange program, funded by bp, for high school youth to foster curiosity in the STEM fields, and to develop the interpersonal and cultural skills needed to help the world transition to a more sustainable future. The scholars are now together in person to deepen their intercultural exchange, meet with STEM industry leaders and experts, participate in interactive site visits, gain volunteer service experience, and investigate case studies in sustainable energy and technologies. The scholarships are generously funded by bp, and the program is run in partnership with AFS Wales / @CelticEnglishAcademy.
