One of the main priorities of #publicsafety leaders is to ensure our frontline is equipped with the tools to effectively, safely and efficiently perform their duties - #CSWB. Given the growth and advancement in technologies that are being utilized for good and (unfortunately) bad - priorities related to innovation and technology advancement are key areas of focus for #publicsafety. One of these innovative priorities is to ensure that in times of crisis and/or everyday operations our frontline personnel are never left without adequate communication and response technology tools. Ensuring that public safety and our #criticalinfrastructure partners have a #resilient,#reliable, #secure, #interoperable, #affordable and #available broadband network is key to our ability to respond and provide lifesaving services. The TCCA-Critical Communications has internationally recognized the PSBN Innovation Alliance for their efforts - including our over 70 organizations from both public and private sectors who have come together to shape and inform a #National #PSBN strategy. In fact, Peel Regional Police and Halton Regional Police Service have invested in an operational #PSBN network - to demonstrate the value of a dedicated broadband system for police and their public safety partners. Our #PSBN has been nothing short of a remarkable success - we now look forward to further innovation and partnership with our expert commercial carrier friends so we can make this a reality for all communities across Canada. A big big TY to Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada | Innovation, Sciences et Développement économique Canada for supporting our work thus far through the issuance of temporary spectrum licence. With a massive increase in public safety data communication requirements on the horizon, including the implementation of #NextGeneration911 technologies we will need a national governance approach for a #PSBN. I can say firsthand that here at Peel Regional Police - as one of Canadas largest and first implementations of NG911 technologies - this is a non-negotiable requirement for all #firstresponders. I am so excited to share the recent Public Safety Canada | Sécurité publique Canada consultation released last week for agencies and organizations to offer their thoughts on what this critical communication governance structure should take.
