It’s National Suicide Prevention Week! If you have been affected by suicide, you are not alone. 💙 Through our #OutOfTheDarkness Community Walks, AFSP creates a safe space to share connections to the cause. Take a moment this week to sign up for a Walk near you: afsp.org/walk If you’re unable to attend a Walk but want to help save lives, donate to AFSP today: afsp.org/donate
This walk is so meaningful, and everyone who works on it makes a difference.
Let's raise our voices for those who feel like they don't have one. Let them know that they are not alone. Let's embrace them and reach out for help. Because help is available.
Thank you for sharing this important message. None of us are alone in this fight. 💙
My sons funeral was during suicide prevention week in 2010. Thank you for all you do to support those in need and those of us after a loss

This is so important to spread awareness. Thank you for the work you all do
Thank you for shining a light on suicide. My son took his life in 2008. He was only 31 years old. I am so grateful for the time I had with him. I just wish his son would have gotten to know the man he was becoming. Thank you again.

1moDid you know that autistic individuals are 9 times more likely to die by suicide, while also being far less likely to receive the support they need when in crisis? That’s because while the current suicide prevention system offers specialized support for high-risk groups like veterans and the LGBTQ+ community, it falls short of addressing the unique needs of autistic individuals, including differences in communication and sensory triggers. As someone on the spectrum, I can tell you firsthand how critical this issue is. That's why I'm launching Divergent Allies, to raise awareness now and begin building a suicide crisis support hotline for autistic individuals. We cannot afford to overlook this glaring oversight any longer—lives depend on it. Stay tuned for updates, and join me in pushing for change. Together, we can make a difference.
