Immunisation day at the UHTC affiliated with our institution. Life or death for a young child too often depends on whether he or she is born in a country where vaccines are available or not - Nelson Mandela Here are some common myths and safety scares surrounding #vaccines 1. Claims that childhood vaccinations might be connected to diseases like encephalopathy, inflammatory bowel disease, autism, behavioural disorders, multiple sclerosis, chronic arthritis, diabetes, and falling behind in school, but these claims were later shown to be false. 2. False claims that vaccines cause a number of diseases, which could be harmful. 3.There have been times when inadequate public health reactions to vaccine scares caused big drops in public and professional trust, which led to fewer people getting vaccinated and avoidable illness and death. This Immunization Month, let's highlight the power of child life specialists! According to Wright, Gerson, and Staab (2023), children who received support from a child life specialist during their vaccines showed significantly lower distress and used coping strategies more often. This study can be found in "The Impact of Child Life Intervention on a Clinical Vaccine Trial" in The Journal of Child Life: Psychosocial Theory and Practice. Thank you, child life professionals, for playing a HUGE role in vaccinations and immunizations for children. We know negative healthcare experiences as a child can cause an adult to put off seeking healthcare, and you help minimize the stress and trauma of healthcare encounters to promote positive life-long relationships with the medical setting. Humans are not as rational as you think! When I prepare my doctorate research, I suspect that no matter how much you educate people, it doesn't always lead to intention nor action. So, when it comes to preventive medicine such as vaccination for children, we see all the issues on vaccine hesitancy. You can enrol parents in any course on vaccination knowledge and prepare yourself to be disappointed. I tested several psychological characteristics of human and found out that: Knowledge is only good enough if it makes parents understand their child's risk of getting the disease and how bad it will be. In short, it seems that fear is a good driving force to prevent something from happening. Vaccines are crucial safeguards, shielding children from serious diseases and promoting overall health. Your pediatrician will devise a tailored vaccination schedule based on your child's age and health status, ensuring optimal protection. These immunizations play a pivotal role in bolstering your child's immune system, enabling their body to combat infections and ward off diseases such as measles, mumps, polio, and more effectively. Despite persistent myths, vaccines do not cause autism, and delaying them only leaves children vulnerable to preventable illnesses. It's imperative not to succumb to misinformation; vaccines are rigorously tested, safe, and remarkably effective in preventing disease outbreaks and safeguarding public health. By consulting with your doctor and adhering to recommended vaccination protocols, you empower your child with the best defense against potentially life-threatening infections, fostering a healthier and safer future for them and the community at large. #Vaccines #ChildHealth #Immunization #VaccinationSchedule #PediatricCare #DiseasePrevention #PublicHealth #MedicalMyths #AutismMyths #Healthcare #ParentingTips #ChildhoodImmunizations #HealthyKids #ScienceBasedMedicine #MedicalAdvice #DiseaseControl #CommunityHealth #StayInformed
