#throwbackthursday The original God of War was released 19 years ago! 👀 After seeing its initial release on March 22nd, 2005, God of War has seen itself land in many gaming journalists and magazines as one of the best video games of all time, and rightfully so. This legendary game accomplished quite a lot by winning several "Game of the Year" awards and becoming the fourteenth best-selling PlayStation 2 game of all time. All of which has led to us seeing 9 more additions to the series so far for this action-adventure, hack and slash video game. Cool facts about the game: • David Jaffe, the game director and creator of the first game, was heavily inspired by Capcom’s game 'Onimusha' and to no surprise the 1981 feature film, 'Clash of the Titans'. • There has been talks of a God of War live-action film/series in the works since 2005. With scripts being written, cancelled, and re-written again. At one point, David Jaffe stated that a script was sent out to James Bond actor, Daniel Craig, to which he turned down - Glad he stuck as 007 because it’s quite difficult to imagine seeing him as Kratos, if that was the role intended 😄. • Kratos' tattoo was going to be blue. • By completing either of these tasks: - Completing the game on God Mode. - Destroying all the statues in the throne room. You can call two separate US phone numbers to receive a pre-recorded message of Kratos speaking about his final fight with Ares, and the other being David Jaffe congratulating you. #thursdaythoughts #gamingnews #news #nostalgia #throwback #gamesindustry

In the last few months after the release of Assassin's Creed Mirage, there has been a trend in YouTube shorts where people use the new execution system shown in the game with the One Republic song called Mirage, so I decided to create a similar system with some additional touches of my own and release this system to Epic Games Marketplace. I'm a little overdue with this one, but hey, it's been a busy time! Since I'm no longer with EA, it means I'm allowed to give my professional opinion of an EA game without worrying about conflict of interest. :) I'm really glad I got to play #TalesOfKenzeraZau, and I'm pleased to share my review for your 6-minute reading pleasure. (I'm not paid for this, and neither is anybody on @SmashPad, but we'd still appreciate your click!) Some quick hits! - The game took me about 7 hours to 100%. - The story is AMAZING, so if you don't like the metroidvania genre, you can tone the difficulty down to Easy and it'll be a breeze! - EA didn't give me a review copy, but you can actually download and play the game the game for free if you have a PS+ Extra account (if you're on PS5)! - At that, yes, it's very much worth the $20. --- Like my content? Imagine what I can do professionally. #HireMe I’m a recently displaced Community Management, Social Media, and Communications professional who spent the last 7+ years with EA and Glu Mobile. I also currently run SmashPad.com as its Head of Content as a passion project. I’m seeking a new role in the hashtag #gamingindustry or #tech that’ll utilize my skills in writing and/or communications, and I’m also entertaining requests and ideas to consult on gaming-related projects, guest host podcasts, or participate on a panelist or speak at industry events.
"When actor Abubakar Salim took The Game Awards stage to announce a game that he made to acknowledge the love and loss of his father, it was easily one of the highlights of the show, and now that the game is out–it should be one of the highlights of the year." Danreb Victorio says it's one of the best games of the year. #SmashPadReviews Surgent Studios #TalesOfKenzeraZau

There should be no surprise as to why Fallout, The Last of Us, Arcane, and The Witcher have been successful adaptations from video games. It's all about the mini-series. But why do games like Borderlands, Uncharted, and Assassin's Creed struggle to adapt well to film? Cramming a 20-to-40-hour game experience into two hours, I believe, underserves the original I.P. The spirit and identity of the game is often lost, especially when Hollywood feels a need to overwhelm audiences with never-ending action sequences to live up to memorable gameplay moments of the source material at the expense of great character development. I could be wrong on this, but the list of failed game adaptations into movies is staggering. These movies feel too far apart from the games.
