🌱 We are excited to share highlights from session two of The Regen Reflections Webinar which help September 19th, in collaboration with SAI Platform In this session, we took participants on an inspiring journey into the world of regenerative agriculture. Together, we explored the dynamic and promising landscape of financing regenerative agriculture (RegenAg) and building a compelling business case for these initiatives. Here’s a quick look at the key takeaways from our speakers: 💡 Tailored Strategies for Scaling Margaret Henry shared how PepsiCo is embedding Regen Ag into its global supply chain by engaging diverse stakeholders and achieving early wins. She emphasised the need for translators who can bridge gaps across sectors and foster co-creation of solutions that work for all. 💼 Building the Business Case Catherine McCosker of 3Keel highlighted the importance of aligning internal goals and creating a culture that supports Regen Ag, even when financial returns are delayed. She stressed the need to speak the language of finance and procurement to gain buy-in for long-term success. 🌱 Creative Financing Models Kyle Rudzinski and Tim Crosby discussed innovative funding solutions like blended capital models, combining corporate investments with support from impact investors, philanthropists, and government grants. These models help de-risk RegenAg projects and ensure farmers remain at the center with incentives like long-term contracts and transition support. 🤝 Collaboration is Key Across the board, our speakers echoed the need for cross-sector partnerships. Scaling Regen Ag requires governments, NGOs, and even competitors to work together, leveraging local expertise to tailor practices regionally. Want to be part of this insightful conversation? Stay tuned for updates on our next session, where we will dive deeper into how we can engage farmers in co-creating regenerative agriculture solutions.

📣 We are very pleased to have brought together over 130 SAI Platform and Cool Farm Alliance members for the second session of Regen Reflections last week. 🌱 Participants had the opportunity to hear from thought leaders in the space as we explored the key challenges and strategies for financing regenerative agriculture, as well as how to build strong business cases for such initiatives. External speakers: Margaret Henry shared how PepsiCo integrates regenerative practices across global supply chains by engaging stakeholders, embedding regenerative agriculture into core strategy, and leveraging partnerships with governments and funders. Tailored, region-specific solutions and strong leadership buy-in have been key to their success in scaling regenerative agriculture. Catherine McCosker of 3Keel stressed the importance of using commercial language to engage finance and procurement teams. She highlighted the need for an enabling culture to overcome challenges like delayed financial returns and align cross-functional goals. Kyle Rudzinski of Pollination and Tim Crosby Transformational Investing in Food Systems discussed different financing models, from internal resources to blended capital. They emphasised centering farmers in the process through financial incentives and long-term contracts and highlighted how donor agencies and philanthropic capital play a crucial role in de-risking early-stage projects. 🌍 From the engaging discussions, it is very clear that scaling regenerative agriculture will require cross-sector collaboration, including partnerships with governments, NGOs, and competitors, and that leveraging local data and farmer expertise is critical to adapting regenerative practices to specific regions. 💡 Stay tuned for updates on the next session, where we will focus on the importance of engaging farmers in the co-creation of regenerative agriculture initiatives. Together, we are building momentum towards a regenerative future! #PeoplePoweredAgriculture #RegenerativeAgriculture

For the past 1.5 years, Cindie Christiansen and I have been in stealth mode building Top 50 Farmers — a non-profit project to scale regenerative agriculture by spotlighting the farmers leading the way. We are proud to share that we have secured 80% of the 2-year project budget from The DOEN Foundation , Astanor Ventures, AVINA Stiftung, and The Nest Family Office. We are now preparing to launch in the fall 🙌 This November, Top 50 Farmers will launch an open call nomination to find 50 farmers from across Europe who are applying regenerative principles and demonstrating how agriculture is good business for people and the planet. Why do we need to amplify role models? Because stories are powerful. They provide knowledge, inspiration, and education, influencing generations. It’s also proven that when you have someone that looks like you in a position of power, it makes it that much easier to follow in their footsteps. Through storytelling, ecosystem building, and facilitating conversations along the value chain, we believe that we can win hearts and minds, raise consciousness, and highlight a blueprint for the future of food that is already unfolding all around us. Big thanks to our Advisory Board, Selection Committee, and collaborators for all the love you have already shown in this project. They are heroes and tagged below <3 Want to learn more about Top 50 Farmers? Join our free webinar, which will share more information about how we built the project including fundraising from vision and value aligned partners: https://lnkd.in/ep9gBM-G PS: If you are a foundation or family office funding regenerative projects, we’d love to talk to you. Top 50 Farmers has raised 80% of the total project budget and is looking to close the remaining 20%. Will you be a founding funder? Contact us me or Cindie to learn more.

🌱 The Joy of Watching Growth Happen—Both in Plants and in Business 🌱 As a horticulturist and agribusiness professional, I’ve always been fascinated by the parallels between nurturing plants and growing a business. Just as plants need the right conditions—soil, sunlight, and care—businesses thrive with the right strategies, teamwork, and innovation. Recently, I’ve been focusing on sustainable vegetable farming, consistently achieving a 80% crop yield. It’s a reminder that with the right approach and dedication, we can achieve remarkable results, whether in the field or in the boardroom. In my journey, I’ve also had the privilege of leading teams in both agriculture and service industries. From managing operations in a busy pack house to boosting customer satisfaction in a tech-driven business, the key has always been the same: growth, care, and continuous improvement. Excited to continue learning, growing, and sharing insights with this amazing community. Let’s keep planting seeds for success! 🌾💼 #Horticulture #Agribusiness #Leadership #Sustainability #Growth

This week has been a WEEK, and I'm ready for a weekend to process (albeit one full of projects), but I wanted to share four key insights I got from conversations with some very wise humans: 1. We need to stop thinking of our food in terms of just agriculture and behind the farm gate, but as a food system. The balance of consumer value is added in the last few kilometres, so how can we capture that earlier? What are the social and environmental impacts of the decisions we make? 2. Management of wild game in Aotearoa is a wicked problem, intersecting with biodiversity, biosecurity, food security, traditional food gathering values, export capital, environmental sustainability, etc. Let's start bringing pan-sector solutions to the table, instead of passing on accountability. 3. The AGMARDT (The Agricultural and Marketing Research and Development Trust) Common Ground report is an excellent conversation starter on creating an agrifood system we are proud of. Let's talk not just about what this WILL look like, but about what it COULD and SHOULD look like. What factors can we control and influence? 4. Leadership is not an appointment, but a state of mind and a habit of behaviour. What can you do to pull more seats to the table and increase the diversity of perspectives there? The more we know, the better equipped we are to tackle current issues and future-proof our communities. Photo: sheep near a trig point, because I feel like we are so close, but so short-sighted in how we are tackling some of our big challenges and opportunities. That, and the ocean is a calming force for this currently landlocked human. --- P.S. Do you have a view on leadership development in Aotearoa's agrifood ecosystem? Share your thoughts here: https://lnkd.in/g3mZf4kE #foodandfibre #primaryindustries #agribusiness #agrigood #foodsystem
