New poll shows that older adults support government policies that help people with dementia and their caregivers. They also want more support from health care and social services to help them stay at home if diagnosed with dementia. 👉 Check out the findings and learn more about how we can better support older adults and their caregivers here: https://lnkd.in/ejd5KPEU #OlderAdults #DementiaCare #Healthcare #Caregiver #Policy

A year ago yesterday, I embarked on a new chapter, transitioning from a corporate team to the caretaking team for my Mommer. Swapping projects, Teams meetings, and revenue growth for caregiving has been eye-opening, shedding light on the challenges faced by caregivers. While progress has and continues to be made, the lack of adequate support for caregivers remains a pressing concern. My Mommer’s journey with Dementia, or as we now call it, Dumbmentia, has underscored the urgent need for improved resources and care. Memory care facilities with long waitlists and overwhelmed professional and family care providers highlight a system in need of reform. We can and must do better, not just for individuals like Mommer but for all facing similar challenges. As we recognize September as World Alzheimer’s Month, I ask you to reflect on the struggles of caregivers and the inadequacies in caring for our loved ones with Alzheimer’s. Let's come together to advocate for better support and resources, ensuring dignity and quality care for all affected by this disease. Awareness + Action = A better life and world for us all. #AlzheimersAwareness #Caregivers #DementiaSupport #Mommer
