The grower opens a generative AI (genAI) app designed specifically for agribusiness and types question, according to an article by SAP experts at AgriBusinessGlobal. “Taking into account the current maturity of my soybean crop, the pending weather micro-forecast, recent precipitation and the soil condition of this particular field, when is the optimal time next week to irrigate and spray this field, and in which volumes?” In moments, the grower has a detailed answer based on the parameters he or she provided and derived from an analysis of a huge volume of data from disparate sources, including the seed provider, fungicide manufacturer, connected sensors in the field, historical weather and precipitation data, and more. Farmdar co-founder Muzaffar Manghi presented CropScan in his keynote for AI and agriculture at Future Fest, attended by 50,000 people over three days. The demo showcased to industry leaders how Farmdar has now crossed +350 million acres coverage, across several countries and multiple crops. The demo highlighted how vast AI backed crop data from current and past years can be combined to create a deep level of predictive analytics otherwise not possible, for example, pinpointing a country-wide reduction in 2024 spring maize due to wheat substitution. The keynote also showcased other proprietary Farmdar models, such as predicting soybean yields in Brazil to within a tolerance of 3 bags per hectare, detecting sugarcane varieties with 80-90% accuracy, calculating evapotranspiration, root-zone and topsoil moisture levels.

One of the main challenges faced by agriculture companies is the identification of diseased plants that can result in significant losses in productivity and grain quality, which directly impacts farmers' profitability and the country's economy as a whole. With this in mind, Macnica and Embrapa are working together on a project to detect soybean plant diseases at an early stage. InnerEye's Braintech technology is currently being tested by farmers themselves, who are able to identify diseased plants using images of the leaves of soybeans and now corn.
