Aggregate Industries UK’s Post

SHIP SHIP HOORAY ⛴ Our Glendsanda super quarry in western Scotland has recorded a significant milestone - the 200 millionth tonne of granite was shipped from the site on the MV Yeoman Bank to Great Yarmouth! It's been a long time since the very first shipment sailed from site back in August 1986 on the Hellesport Monarch headed for Houston, Texas. Since then, 6,798 ships have left the berthing point from Europe's largest hard rock quarry. Congrats to all the team at Glensanda for such an achievement 🙌 #Glensanda #Granite #AggregateIndustries #Quarry

Congratulations on a massive achievement. It was great to have a small part in supplying operators to both sides, in Glensanda and receiving the ship in Great Yarmouth.

A massive achievement. Congrats. I first visited Glensanda in 1997, taking on a, pardon the pun! Groundbreaking wireless project with Breezecom, marvelling at the mix of big industry's and beauty of the site. I was lucky enough to return last year, with a different hat, talking about fuel efficiency and cutting emissions... from rock trucks, to loaders, to boats to some of the largest ships sailing. Truly a remarkable achievement and an impressive site/ sight!
