ADDENDUM vs. AMENDMENT—What are the main differences? ADDendum = adding additional terms to a contract. aMENDment = mending existing terms within a contract. For example, if you’re using an association's template purchase contract and you have additional line items, or you cross some items out with alternative terms presented in the addendum. Maybe you want to add instructions to a contract. An amendment mends or fixes existing terms, typically during escrow. For example, you and the seller might need to adjust some of the timelines or pricing. This is addressed with an amendment that alters existing terms. Add. Mend. Easy to remember 👍🏻
