This simulation model is a multi-method model combining Agent-Based Modeling, Discrete Event Simulation and System Dynamics to simulate the manufacturing and distribution of a product from three manufacturing centres to a number of distributors around the city of Cape Town. Adapted from the Product Delivery model from Anylogic examples, this model demonstrates the power of simulation and Anylogic software to model such a complex system. The model can be used to determine the optimal production rate that will minimize the inventory level while satisfying the demand, or to find the required number of delivery trucks needed to meet the demand and at the same time maximize their utilization, or identify the optimal values of various system's parameters that will minimize the total waiting time; and the list goes on.
