What are some helpful guidelines for blending flower essences? (Part 2) The next thing to consider is the compatibility of the flowers you wish to blend. My personal rule of thumb is to blend 5 or (preferably) less, although some sources will tell you the maximum is 7. Again, less is often more when it comes to blending flower essences. Once you have decided what the purpose of your blend will be, choose the single essences that would accomplish the different facets of your blend. Then, compare what each essence promotes to make sure there are not any contradictory elements. For example, if you want to create a blend to uplift the mood, you may choose daffodil (encourages positivity and optimism) and Broom (increase optimism, decrease overwhelm), but would not want to add Nightshade (encourages self-love & acceptance, but also brings shadow work to the forefront). Not all flower essences play nicely together, so you will want to carefully choose which ones to blend together. The flowers of the red geranium are always a cheerful sight, and have a varied symbolism stemming from affection to bewitchment. They are easy to grow, bloom constantly until the frosts begin, and can be overwintered in a cool, dark place (water occasionally, though!) to bloom again the following year! Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) flower essence helps us through transitions by encouraging balance and harmony. It specifically targets the energetic systems to do this. Red geranium is also a good flower to use when working on self-esteem and self-acceptance.
