The World Biogas Association #MakingBiogasHappen (MBH) programme is a global plan designed to reduce the time needed to develop policies, regulations and standards to accelerate the expansion of the biogas sector. 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐔 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝟑𝟓 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝟑 𝐛𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟑𝟎 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞? We asked Giulia Cancian, Secretary General at the European Biogas Association, to give us an overview of the European biogas and biomethane market from now to 2040. To date, 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝟐𝟏 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝟑 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐠𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝. Of this 𝟒.𝟐 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝟑 is 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐞.  The roadmap to reach the 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐄𝐔 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝟑𝟓 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝟑 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟑𝟎 is therefore outlined. According to Giulia Cancian – if all available raw materials were unlocked – the potential in Europe would be even higher, that is, 44 billion m3 of biomethane by 2030 and that many European countries have defined clear and precise production targets, going so far as to declare 14.16 billion m3 of biomethane by 2030 precisely in their regulations. https://bit.ly/4dEAk5e
