I recently had the privilege of listening to a Precision Neuroscience panel at #BIO2024 and then stumbled across an insightful episode of the Raising Biotech podcast that also featured Cerevance CEO Craig Thompson, and I've been blown away by their innovative approach to tackling neurodegenerative diseases. My three most exciting takeaways are below: Looking ahead, it’s thrilling to see how Cerevance plans to navigate the challenges and opportunities in the CNS space. What new breakthroughs can we expect from their innovative platform in the next few years? #HealthcareInnovation #Innovation #innovationinpharma #neurodegenerativedisease #ParkinsonsDisease #Biotech #Cerevance

The tool, called the α-synuclein seeding amplification assay (αSyn-SAA) being discussed in this podcast, was discovered over a year ago and can detect abnormal alpha-synuclein protein - in spinal fluid of not only people diagnosed with #Parkinson’s, but also in individuals who have not yet been diagnosed or shown symptoms of the disease, but are at a high risk of developing it. The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research offers many ways to get involved in advancing #parkinsonsdisease care including helping patients and caregivers find relevant trials to participate in, through the Fox Trial Finder. https://lnkd.in/gMhRpeMx #parkinsonsdiseaseawareness #parkinsonsresearch #clinicalresearch #clinicaltrials
Just over a year ago, there was a major breakthrough in Parkinson’s disease (PD) research – the discovery of a tool that could detect abnormal alpha-synuclein protein in the spinal fluid of people living with PD even before onset of symptoms. In our recent “Parkinson’s Science POV” podcast episode, MJFF’s Maggie McGuire Kuhl, vice president of research engagement leads a discussion with Brian Fiske, PhD and Mark Frasier, PhD, MJFF co-chief science officers. They discuss the ways the biomarker discovery helps reveal connections with other brain diseases and holds the promise to make clinical trials cheaper, faster and more effective.
