We need to bring AI to every device and service on our electric grid and empower consumers of electricity, large and small, to help drive the decarbonization of the electric grid! We started this journey with the Recovery Act $3.4 billion Smart Grid Investment Act in 2010 which was the first and largest investment in bringing digital technologies (mostly Smart Meters) to the grid. Remember Silver Spring Networks! With the utility cost share, more than $5 billion was invested in digitizing our electric grid. This set the foundation to make VPPs possible a decade later! With Smart Meters, for the first time ever, a utility actually could know that the power was out in your neighborhood without sending a crew in a bucket truck! VPPs is the logical and beneficial and robust advancement over the Smart Meters. Like a Model T Ford is to a connected electric vehicle today! Gotta love progress!!! #vpp just getting started! #energytransition
