BOOK LAUNCH ALERT!!! It was February 2020. I remember sitting in a coffee shop trying to make sense of life. There was too much clutter- on my table and in my mind. Since I couldn’t do much about the ridiculously small table, I decided to write about all the big problems plaguing my anxious mind. There was no rhythm, no cohesion, no rhyme. Looking back I think it was quite gutsy of me to call that rant a poem! But after I was done, a magical thing happened- I felt lighter. As though I had given shape to something that couldn’t be named but felt. The act of writing became liberating and sanity-preserving. What ensurd was a torrid love affair with reading and writing poetry as a rebellious act of self-preservation. I didn’t have the first clue about the thriving poetry scene or the growing poetry appetite in India. I wrote because not writing was unthinkable. So when I say this book is a reality beyond the realm of my dreams- I mean it! I cannot believe that I get to share my poems with the world in form of a book. All I hope is reading them makes you feel what writing them makes me feel- light, sane, and understood. My book- In Four Billion Years- is out now! DISCLAIMER: I am not a “Swifty” but I can’t help admire her for this  . . Recently I saw Taylor Swift’s Instagram post where she mentioned that 288,000 attended her concert across 3 days in Melbourne. That’s nearly entertaining one lakh people a night! To say it’s a remarkable achievement is an understatement of this century. . . As I read more, I realized this woman has been at it- at creating music and songs since she was 13. That means she has been putting consistent and disciplined and relentless effort for 20 long years in the same direction. Of course, some people will say she is blessed and lucky to have the mindblowing success and loyal following that she does. Maybe, it’s true to some extent. . . But here’s my takeaway- the ability to put consistent effort for 20 years into a dream is a rare thing. Sometimes, it’s so easy to get discouraged or think that things aren’t coming together. Especially when we hit a low. But maybe if we keep at it, everything may just be falling apart to come together in ways that we haven’t even dreamed of!  . . I do believe that if I hold my end of the bargain, the universe will make things happen. I don’t have to fight it. What is the most precious thing in this whole wide world?  . . FAMILY!  . . What could be better than building a dream company with your family? Not much. I am glad to share that I have become part of a company that my father and Chachu started 38 years ago (much before I was born). They were dreamers and artists who left the comfort of their small town in UP and migrated to Mumbai to create something magnificent- TOGETHER. They learned, they built, they failed, they persisted, they innovated and they kept going- laying brick after brick to achieve that dream- TOGETHER. Today, they’ve built a company that is spread across 25 countries and services clients across geographies. Through this journey that has had many wins and even defeats, they have always had each other’s back!  . . Today what we’ve inherited is not just the company called Collins India but the living and breathing proof that when family sticks together, they create magic. As I join my supremely talented, passionate, crazy and funny brother Siddhant Agrawal in taking the company forward, I cannot wait to live the journey that awaits us- TOGETHER.  . . In case you are wondering what we do… We are in the business of hardware, partitions, modular kitchens, and wardrobes. But I truly believe that it’s incidental. I have been completely missing from the LinkedIn scene because of a huge professional transition I was going through . . I bid a very emotional farewell to Plan3Media in Dec 2023 after 7 amazing years of working together. This post is not just a public acknowledgment of that transition but more so- a reflection on what happens when you build great organizations!  . . I have never in my professional career experienced so much autonomy at work. Where I had incredible freedom to make decisions and with it, make some mistakes. The environment supported learning, not blame. Which gave me wings to fly and the confidence to trust my instincts. It taught me firsthand some very crucial lessons in leadership, thanks to my boss, mentor, and friend Jatin Deepchandani.  . . It was a place where every single person knew that every decision made would be for the best of the event. Hence, there were no ego clashes and unnecessary ego management. Just extremely healthy and if I am honest to admit, feisty debates. None of which were taken personally. . . It was a place where everyone always shared credit, building up a colleague or a team member- very very generously. Never an iota of the dreaded “politics”.  . . As a result, I may have left but I think of Plan3Media as my home and all the events as my events. I refuse to refer to Nida Umerjee, Pulkit Narula, Aruna Avanthika Saravanakumar and Megha S Anthony as my ex-colleagues and I am more than happy to contribute still. And I want to say- this isn’t a reflection on me. It’s a reflection of what happens when you build workplaces where people feel empowered to contribute!  . . I think the value of what I have learned at Plan3Media is something I keep discovering every day (especially after leaving). Thank you for being a wonderful home.
