The ARRIVE (𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝘃𝗼 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀) guidelines are a checklist of recommendations for the comprehensive and transparent reporting of research involving animals, maximizing the quality and reliability of published research and enabling others to better scrutinize, evaluate, and reproduce it. ETH Zurich affirms that animal experiments are important for answering fundamental research questions and are an integral part of our research strategy. We announce the launch of a new 3R Hub, with the aim to combine existing and novel knowledge about 3R methods and to support scientist in developing and implementing innovative 3R techniques. The annual reports of the Transparency Agreements (TA) on animal research in the Netherlands and Portugal, recently published, have charted good improvements in openness among their signatory institutions in the last year. The Portuguese report has been published this week, at the start of the Animal Research Open Week (#OPENWEEKPT24), showing that the majority of the signatory institutions have engaged with the public, while the Netherlands Transparency Agreement published its report during #BOARD24 and found that biomedical institutions are using an increasing number of ways to communicate with the public.
